Anyway to make the paint match after an accident ?

So,i had an accident before and getting (hood, bumper, fender) replaced..

will get the car maybe on monday..

Is there anything i can do to make the color match better when i get the car ?

the car is less than a year old only...but i know that the paint will look different between the new and old parts of the body ..

Is it a good idea to (clay, polish, wax) the car when i get it ?

is it going to make it match better ?

..my friend said that i have to drive the car at sunny days for like a month or so to help the paint match before doing the polish ..

does that make sense ?

any opinions on this would be so appreciated ,,

Extra notes :

car color: ASM , getting fixed at the dealer (honda genuine paint ).

with a lot of body shop here in canada, they use a special kind of paint gun code reader that actually determines the colours/pigments in the paint and give the painter a read out of how much approx. of each colour is in the paint. Then its just a matter of mixing to or three different batches to find out the perfect match. When i had to get my whole side of my 92 civic si repainted, i had a good feeling the paint colour wouldnt be close to a paint job that was over 16 years old. They used the thing at the bodyshop to match the paint... and the two colour were spot on. Just go around to the bodyshops and ask if they have something thatll match the colour you have on your car and NOT the actual colour it came with. It shouldnt be a problem.

Your bodyshop should 'blend' the paint to make it at least appear to match. If they don't do that, then their job is not done. Insurance covers that.

I dont live in the states , theres no such thing here ..

Honda is going to paint the parts and install ..all under insurance ..

and they surely will use the same color of the car with no "blending" ..

I will receive the car in the middle of the next week most likely .. its almost done..

would polishing the car professionally using a rotary later help ?

I dont think there is ever a way to get the color match perfect w/o blending unless you use the color reading gun like in previous posts. they will probably have to blend into the door on the side with the new fender and blend into the fender on the other side, or if replacing both fenders blend into doors on both sides. as for the wax no your not suppost to apply wax or anything untill its fully dry.

So,the car wont be fully dried when i receive it ?!

i thought that if i get the car polished ,it will help to improve the paint and make it all have the same shine..so it might match better..does this make sense ?

The car will be dry to the touch but not as fully cured like the rest of the car. you can still drive it with no probs. as for polishing i think what u mean is getting the imperfections out of the clearcoat (fish eyes, possible fingerprints, or orange peel) a perfect clearcoat should not need polishing to look like the rest of the car.

Is it dumb to leave the car under the sun and not park it in the garage just so the paint can match? (friend's advice)

usually the color match is close enough where the painter can blend it and it wont b noticeable. as for the garage i think its your call. leaving it in the sun might even out the fade but that takes lots of time. leaving it in the garage will protect the paint from birds falling trees rain and carts. lol
the main thing to look for when you get it back is the shop mistakes like panel misalignment, overspray, scratches that misterously appeared, clear coat imperfections or damage to the interior. unless the painter is terrible or doesnt blend, there should be no problem with the color match.
