Choosing Tint %
I'm wondering if I should get 50% all around or 50% front and 30% rear. The law in my area does not approve front tint but it's kinda funny if I just tint the rear and naked on the front.
What do you guys think? I'd appreciate if anyone can post the pics of your car tinted, especially 50% all around. Thanks |

Here's some recent pic threads with light tint:
1st mod (tint) Can i see some civics with very light tint 50% Window Tint All Around - Yes or No More importantly is film selection and installer selection. How YOU can pick a good tint shop While you may not be able to go dark as you want, there are plenty of 70% to 50% films out there that will provide up to 55% heat rejection (more than most "limo" films) and 99% UV rejection. Also, about being funny. Keep in mind almost every truck, SUV, minivan, Dodge Magnum, and PT Cruiser come this way. Do they look "funny"? |

I would never get 50%, thats WAY too light. Whats the point of getting tint if its not dark as f*ck? I live in CA where all tint is illegal on the front windows. But I still rock the 15% on my civic and 20% on my nissan, and I definetely like the 15% better. 5% is pretty awesome too, but sometimes at night you cant see anything, kinda risky
Heres the civ with 15% ![]() And heres the nissan with 20%

I wanted to get mine done when I was in Maine, but I couldn't believe the most they could do was 35%.
In Ontario there is a a vaguely written law, stating (to paraphrase) "The officer must be able to see what is inside", instead of having a set percentage. Usually this is interpreted by the police doing a spot check by pulling you over and seeing if they can read the gauges from outside. I got pulled over in my truck before (17%) and barely passed, but usually what they allow is in the 20-23% range. That's one good thing about the Civic gauges though, because if you ever get pulled over you can quickly jack up the brightness of the numbers to max. As for buddy above, I don't think 5% (AKA "Limo") would be allowed anywhere, really. 20% is damn dark, and enough to look cool. |

I had 15% all around and couldn't see when backing up unless there was street lights, but in the country in total darkness, I was blind.
If I would have tinted the windows on the civic, I would have done 15% in the front and 5% in the back. It would have been awesome |

Even with 17% on my truck, I really felt better sliding the middle window open because it was so dark at night. For someone going from no tint to tint, it would be a bad idea to go to 5%. |

i have 20 on the rear, back, and the front window visor and 35 in the front. at night, u would barely notice the 35 and 20 unless ur comparing it. gettin the front visor line tinted made my fg2 look a lot more aggressive. here in nyc, tints are not allowed at all for small cars. the front visor line tint must be atleast 20 or its uselesss. if ur not plannin on gettin the front visor tinted, i believe 35 all around would be the perfect choice. well in the city atleast
