JDM emblems - one more time

About 10 days ago, I asked for advice on getting JDM emblems for an 08 Coupe that would fit w/o filing. I got just one reply. It said just go to JDMLand and order theirs. Well, I did and they don't... fit, that is. The back surface of the emblem is much flatter than the deck lid surface and just rocks back and forth. $100 shot to hell.

Anyone else want to try and actually explain to me if there is a difference between the coupe and sedan and which emblem to get that will actually fit the coupe??

It really would be appreciated.

are you sure if you purshaced the one's that say FG2? Because i havent heard of anybody having problems with the ones from jdmland.com......YES there is a difference between the coupe and the sedan emblems.

From what i hear FOR THE COUPE the front emblem comes from a EP3(2002+civic type R) and the rear comes from the DC5(2002+ honda integra type R)

hope this helps a little bit

Thanks for the quick answer. Here is what i have.

FG2 - that's what I ordered (and told them it was for the coupe); invoice says FG2... Coupe

Part number - on bag for front emblem is 75700-S5T-E01

Fit - after removing pegs on back, I simply held the emblem to the surface on the decklid and there is quite a difference. Emblem, which is flatter, rocks back and forth on the deck lid by a very noticeable amount. I've worked in the industry for decades as an engineer and this isn't exactly rocket science. This kind of fit would never come from and OEM... especially Honda.

While I can't find it now, I have run across an end view photo on this forum of a rear emblem that was a recognized "no fit" and mine looks the same.

Trading emails with jdmland now, but their initial assumption is that I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. A little disappointing.

Would help if anyone could check out the part number on the bag.

I really don't want to drop $100 bills several times over and find that nothing fits.

Thanks for your help.

well..its not going to be a perfect fit since there is no coupe in japan, so they just have to find one close enough that fits ok. maybe once it sticks down it wont rock?

you could have found everything out with the search function (like most of us did) instead of throwing $100 at a vague statement some guy made.

This post tells you which ones to buy: http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/insid...tml#post523297
That whole thread is dedicated to JDM emblems. Read through it and you will know everything you need to.

Mine is not a "perfect" fit. But if you find that sweet spot on the trunk then it won't be noticeable and it won't rock once you have it on. If you sit there and look at it with a microscope then yes there will be a small gap.

Weird, I got mine fom JDMland. (I have an 06 coupe), The back one fits perfectly. no rocking whatsoever. Maybe they sent you the correct front one but got the back one mixed up.

Thanks for the quick and insightful answers. (Duk - Went through that thread several times before I bought and didn't get as much info as I've just gotten from a few others in answer to this question.)

A little more info for you. When I hold the rear medallion up to the mating surface with the top flush, the bottom stands away by 4 to 5mm. Now that you've told me that there is no coupe in Japan, I understand that I shouldn't expect a perfect match.

I guess there are two questions. First, does 4 to 5mm in gap seem about what the rest of you experienced. JDMland has started to respond and I've pretty sure I have the "right" rear piece.

Perhaps more important, does the adhesive seem to do a pretty good job of closing the gap? Or, do you just live with it?

This has been great help and I really appreciate it.

^ yeah if you hold the top flush it will make the bottom gap out a little farther. Once you have it on though it won't be so apparent. I did look at mine and actually question that as well before I placed it on there. I'm not sure of your exact placement but I found it worked best if you put it in the middle of where the old emblem was since it is a little bit smaller.

Exactly what i was looking for, and with a photograph too. Great. Now, where did you get the medallion that you used?

Very strange indeed. This is the one I got from JDMland. It came in the set of JDM FG2 Civic 06 + Si Coupe front and rear red 'H' combo pack. The rear fit perfectly

The only thing I can think of is where your mount of it is. On an EX it fits right under the lip spoiler, in the Si picture that Exin posted, it appears to be a bit lower down the trunk lid. Perhaps that's why there is more of a curve at that point.
