2005 preview of 8th gen civic is RIDICULOUS
and ridiculously awesome (in some respects -- mainly interior touches).
i found this whilst looking for any online data about whats changed in the 09 civics and when the 9th gens will come out. this is apparently from the 05 frankfurt autoshow (??) and it is pretty astounding. i mean, you can see some of what made it to production, but a LOT of stuff is different. the last 30 secs talks about the si in particular. i mean, that interior stereo control knob looks hilarious and there are all kinds of different things on the center console. also the shifter has no boot and the rear doors have no handles on the side, per se. its a lot of fun to watch this, so cheers. give me props if you want (i dunno what it does), or if someone else posted this already give them props and flame me flame me. no worries ![]() Video: Is that really a Honda Civic? - CNET Reviews bon appetit oh also, this would be retarded if it came to production, but the brits might love it: Video: Honda WOW - CNET Reviews jesus, old auto show footage is out of control absurd... why hate to break it to me? i dont care
![]() hmm, still interesting though. pretty strange that there would be such a drastic difference in the aesthetics of car models across continents. wonder what kind of focus groups they base it all on. makes little sense to me, designing so many differences into the same standard setup. of course, i never looked at the co.uk page for honda. i rather like the hidden door handles but i dont really care for the rear slope on the fourdoor. i dont know why the us didnt get the 3 door. i guess its a hatch like the 7thgen si right? regardless of all that, i wonder if other car manufacturers do this to their model lines across countries and continents. anyone know? i mean, does a camry look different in britain than it does in the states? i assume most cars for the euro market are smaller, so camrys prolly dont even sell well there on the whole, but who the hell knows. also, anybody know what that tiny european car is that looks like a shrunk down skinny dodge prowler? i saw em on tv once, they hand make them all and theyre limited to 300 km/h and the waiting list is like 8 months and your order includes a trip to the factory to watch them assemble the interior or something. was pretty neat. dont remember the name or country of origin though... edit: you know with google and wikipedia i basically should never ask another question. ever. took like two seconds to find with the keywords "small euro sports car". damn. Civic Hatches don't sell well in the states. The 02-05 Civic Si didn't sell well at all. They were practically giving them away. If they had sold well I'm sure they would have brought it over. Honda of America can bring over what they want. |

Things may change with gas prices thru the roof (might buy instead of a truck) but hatches especially for honda don't sell well. Coupes do, thats why we get one and most Countries do not. The 02-05 Si was a great Car. I had one. It couldn't have the engine you mention do to the existence of the RSX Type S Acura would have bitched and moaned. I was happy when Honda told them no on the S2000. Wouldnt have been right with its Heritage. Last edited by jlannoo; 06-22-2008 at 05:53 PM. |

and for all you "dont post anything unless its never ever been mentioned before anywhere on the boards" people, i really dont have the time to research tens of thousands of catalogued pages on here before i go to post some little niggling, trifling thing. most people dont. i dont scour the internet to find multiple sources to back stuff up when its just a bit of news that amused me for two minutes. its not a research paper, its a message board. i thought someone might care about this, if nobody does, oh well. we all are interested by and care about many things others seemingly think little of (or not at all). and the x = fail trend is getting old imo. what i do when i find a thread i dgaf about, see, i just dont post anything. that way, the thread seems inactive to all the other passersby, and eventually it is forgotten forever. thats a much better means to your end than just being a boner. i guess its a superiority issue, and i guess i just dont really have one... probably because they put a wimpy excuse for a motor in it. It has the same power as the b16 and it's a 2.0...also the main thing with hondas is high revving....no 8k redline there. If they had the k20a2 in it it would be so much better and they would have the "import tuner crowd" buying it. I'm not sure why but I wish they had type r spec civics here...They had the integra type r for a bit just wish they had the civic!
