Wheres the best place to Mount the amp?

Wheres the best place to Mount the amp?

I need to mount an amp in my truck so any suggesting would be great. These are the 3 places I though, I kinda of want it not visible and keeping as much truck space.

Check picture below...

1.) mount on back of rear seat?
2.) mount on floor under tire area? (this one I like it is hidden) but how about cooling?
3.) buy some mdf wood and mount vertical?

^ are you sure it'll fit under the spare tire area then?

I say just get a piece of MDF and use it to mount to the rear seat

Whore time!

I pulled back the factory carpet and glued and screwed a 1x10" to the flimsy sheetmetal. I then replaced the factory carpet (it's slightly stretched over the wood), and screwed the amp into the wood with security screws.

wow, bikinpunk, if i had seen waht you did with your sedan, i might have done the same (at one point i was thinking about a jl500/5i.. i like the false floor.

to the op,
#1) easiest to do, but i don't like it cuz if you ever open the pass thru people can your amp easily, and you might not want to haul stuff over your amp.. if you never open your trunk pass thru, then this might be the simplest...
#2) if you take out the styrofoam circle that houses your jack/wrench, there's only ~2" of verticle space.. i think your amp will be thicker than that... dunno if you can sink the amp into the 15 radius of the spare tire (small amps like pdx4.100 would fit)
#3) complicated, but you might be able to mount it vertically near the L or R taillight (where the JL stealthbox would mount to), and cover it up with a piece of carpetted mdf for a stealth install.

good luck!

i am guessing it will depend on the amp, what you are running, and how hard you drive it

at one point i had a small 4 channel a/d/s amp mounted under a false floor, bottom of the trunk. never got hot enough to cause a thermal shutdown (even in high 90degree weather). not a civic but i think it's comparable.

it would look sweet to cut an opening for the amp on the trunk floor, so that the face of the amp shows... that would take care of any heat problems too, right?

yes to both

False floors are nice for a few reasons:
1. Relatively easy to build. The hardest part is cutting the template the shape of your trunk. Once you do that, it's a cake walk. Just cut 2 pieces, one for top, one for bottom. Install your amps. Done
2. Hides your stuff.

This is where I mounted mine, and it doesn't block the spare tire cover.
