Questions on upgrading audio system.

I am a new owner of a 2007 civic LX sedan, and i am coming from a car that had 8 speakers. I want to replace the stock radio with my Pioneer but each DIY seems to be different, so my questions are.

5. I have 2 12" subs going in the trunk but i shouldnt have any problems running cable any heads up? I saw a few good DIY under the DIY section.

i didnt open it yet. has any one put speakers here?
1,2,3,4,6 are answered thanks guys!

If this is in the wrong place sorry move it please, And thanks in advance.

1. There are harnesses available to install and radio using either methond (keep factory amp or don't) and I also believe there are harnesses to adapt the cars factory wiring harnesses to the new speakers at the doors, so no cutting needed there, but you will still need to make the new speakers fit.

2. When I installed my radio I used the rca method to keep the factory amp, mainly because it's easier than digging around finding the stock amp and disconnecting it's harness to bypass it. Either way is fine. I chose the easier route and even though it's the factory amp after I had the new radio in it was giving the stock speakers a lot more power and it was also a lot cleaner sounding.

3. I'll leave 3 and 4 to someone else, I used the stockers and they sounded great for me.

5. Sounds like you already have the subs installed? All you'd have to do is run the rca cables up to your new deck.

Thanks for the reply, I Think Im going to use the factory amp with a harness, I saw whiterice make his own, you said they have a harness with rca cables?, The amp and the sub are easily put in the trunk just curious if any one had heads up on running rca and power cables, I saw like 2 or 3 DIY and they all had different locations.

Yeah, I made the whiterice harness

Look a few threads down for the VSS and factory amp turn on thread, I pointed out where those wires you will need are in case you don't already know.

Edit, here's the link VSS and factory amp turn on

More speakers do NOT simply add up to better sound. The fact that your last car had 8 speakers doesn't mean anything to anyone, really. In most cases, more speakers = worse performance, unless the system was designed by someone who really knows what they're doing, and each speaker/set of speakers has a specific and critical role. The fewer speakers you can use to properly reproduce the recording, the better.

First of all, remove the rear speakers entirely. If anyone "new" to car audio can appreciate this, I have a feeling it's you. Speakers behind your head (other than subs, because bass is supposed to be non-directional) will ruin the imaging and staging of any setup. Some knuckleheads will try telling you that they use rear speakers for "rear fill," but there's really no such thing.

And don't worry about WHERE to buy. Focus on WHAT you want to buy, do some research, and then use your computer to make those purchases.

The LX doesn't have a seperate amp to worry about at all. Only the EX coupes and Si coupe and sedan do. just get the factory radio harness adaptor and install your system like you would on most cars.
