head unit dimming

Well I am in the hunt for a new head unit. Looking at the Alpine 9874. My question is, does the whole unit dim with the dashdimmer switch ? Or just part of it? I thought I read somewhere that the main display stays bright.

I do a lot of night driving and don't know that I want something that glares at me.
