Turn Signal and Parking Lights Question!

Hi 8th,

I live in germany and got my FG2 about 2 weeks imported from the USA.
To make the car legal here, the car had to meet requirements and some conversions to german standards.

Now I know that you all in the USA has the turn signals as parking lights when driving, in germany its not legal like that.

The TUEV (Association for Technical Inspection) converted it to just a turn signal, now the lamps doesnt glow as parking lights.

BUT... I want it like you all!! I want the turn signals be also the parking lights.

I really dont know how the TUEV converted that, so that I can simply correct it back.

Do you know the wirings or harness i have to check or what i can made?

PLEASE HELP ME!!! PLEASE!!!

-Thomas

They may have just switched the bulbs...but I'm no electircal expert.

I think the bulbs for the turn signals in the US are dual filament bulbs. I belive that the dual filament bulbs enable the dimmer glow when the parking lights/driving lights are on. When you use the turn signal, the second filament is enabled, which lights up brighter on each blink.

Just a guess.

I didnt know that with the dual filament bulbs! Thanks for the Info.

How to change the bulbs? Is it necessary to take the front bumper off?

Thank you,
Thomas

And if the dual filament bulbs looks like this, than its still inside!

What else can I do to make it back to the US style?

While I hope they didn't they could have just cut the one line coming into your turn signals. There should be three wires going into your turn signal from the harness. Two power wires and 1 ground. One of the power wires operates on the turn signal circuit and the other operates on the parking lights circuit.

They could also have pulled fuse i think #7, but I doubt it cause then none of your rear lights wouldn't come on with your parking lights.

Check the wires, you can do that if your agile enough by just turning the wheel inwards on whatever side you wanna check on and then pulling the plastic caps out, peeling back the wheelwell lining and unplugging the wire that goes into your turn signal. I doubt they would cut the wire but its an easy check.

Hope that helps
