12" Type X - What Amp?
I have a 12" Alpine Type X subwoofer with a vented encloser and wanted to know what amp I should get to go with it and also how to wire it up since I have navi. I already have a MA Audio 1000w peak mono amp but it blows ass and makes the sub sound like an alpine type e.
Also any tips to keep the enclosure from sliding around? I would like to avoid drilling. -Jeff |

Get an alpine D class mono amp, nothing powers Alpine subs better than Alpine amps. You might want to think about getting a custom sealed enclosure for that as well. Alpine subs have great response & punch and this is really emphasized by a sealed enclosure.

You have to give us a little more information.
What's the coil configuration? What is the airspace/tuning of the vented enclosure? The JL Audio 500/1 is a good amplifier because it uses a regulated power supply which will work from 1.5 - 4 ohms stable, so it's good in terms of wiring options, but it's rather expensive. You might want to play with the settings on your amplifier before investing in another amplifier. |
