Civic screen

Hey guys-

I have a AVIC Z2 in my FA5. I hope someone might know a Photoshop pro because I want this screen to match my Nighthawk Black sedan. I would like the red JDM "H" logo to remain red and the body to be colored black. Anyone have a person I could PM for this? I do not have Photoshop and the other programs I used sucked (or I sucked in my attempts). Thanks!

You can email my at lundtcu@hotmail.com

Later!

I take it that there is a separate Navi hack available for your AVIC Z2? Just wondering, since the navi hack listed here is only for the OEM navi.

An excellent (and free) alternative to Photoshop

For anyone interested in doing any sort of photo edit for this type thing (ie. the navi hack), I would HIGHLY recommend paint.net. It is completely free (legitimately free) and it is very similar to Photoshop. The interface is very easy to use and it does not take much to learn the basics of it. I use this program all the time at work (for our software). Only catch is, you must be running Windows (but who am I kidding, I am probably the only person here running a Mac) ...

To get it, go to: www.getpaint.net.

Thanks Idawson77777. The only problem I've had with paint.net is that it doesn't have the ability to save in the specific Bitmap settings that are required to make the custom navi screens work.

Have you found any hidden settings that I've missed?

LOL...I actually do not know off the top of my head. I used Photoshop for the navi hack. I saw lots of people saying use free trials, photoshop, etc., so I figured I would recommend this program to people that are in need of some good legitimate software. However, now that I said something about the software not knowing whether it actually works for the navi hack, I will make it a priority to research it and get back to you tomorrow. I feel like a "horses patoot"...

Still a great piece of software though, even if it does not work for this particular application.

Yeah. I hacked it last week and it works great. The stock unit sucks as you have to stop for everything...

Ok, so I installed it (forgot I have boot camp on my Mac) and it would appear that you are correct jasonandre. It does not give you support for 8 bit BMPs straight out of the box (or download). I searched around on the forums briefly and it does not look like this can currently be done although I saw several hints that it might be added in the future. Although it does not work for the hack, I still recommend it...

Here you go. It's been saved in the same format you sent it to me:

Everyone else should note that this format will not work in the Civic OEM navigation, so don't bother to try it or you'll be wasting your time.

I have a 2007 SI with version 6.55A, im tech savy and looking at the tutorial, i cant find UPDATE_APL.exe in the dvd. I ran search and it didnt find it in any of the dvd's folders either. I have Updat_17.exe though. It is also the only .exe in the root of the dvd.

Anyone got it to work with 6.55A yet? Can we get an updated tutorial for 6.55A

Alright instead of using UPDATE_APL.exe, I burned Updat_17.exe, most likely is the same thing. I'll let you guys know how it works out so we can update the tutorial for the 6.55A users.

jasonandre,

i just made my 3rd attempt at the navi hack and i was unsuccessful. i keep getting a screen saying "please check disc". this is after it says it is downloading for about 30 seconds. the only thing that is different that i can see in the folder is the UPDATE_APL file is not a .exe file. but i have noticed that windows vista calls .exe files applications sometimes. also, when i get into the version screen in the nav, the "program disc" area is blank where yours says "1.07.0000". any troubleshooting info is appreciated. if you need any more info from me, let me know. thanks in advance.
