Question Non-DIY Install Questions

Hi, I'm new here.

Tomorrow I will get my new stereo installed. I am looking for tips. I am not going to attempt this installation myself, as I am nearly clueless.

Anything I should ask or require when I drop my car off? Any problems that people have run into? I am going to a highly-recommended locally-owned/run dealer. I have a fair amount of confidence in the guys who will be doing this, but I am just looking for any scraps of internet wisdom that are out there. I have been using the search function here and reading tons of old posts but my eyes are starting to get tired.

2008 HCH
HU: Eclipse CD7200mkII with iPod adapter (no HD tuner, yet)
amp: Audison LRX 4.1K
spk: Hertz MLK 165 up front, HCX 165.3 in back

(no sub? no, not yet; I am out of money!)

Thanks to all in advance!!!

My advice is to drop the rears and put that money toward a quality install on the fronts. ie: sound deadener, mounting rings (spacers), etc.

I hate seeing guys dump money into good speakers, then they don't do a good install. Remember, you get out what you put in. If you want good quality you've got to take the time to have the install done right. Otherwise you might as well just buy some cheaper speakers and drop them in because at that point, you're not going to gain much by spending hundreds more on a speaker.

My $.02, of course. But I think most would agree with me.

Thanks! I discussed some of this with the installer, but I will go into more specifics on just what they will do tomorrow. I would like to add as little weight as possible, and I know some of that material can be heavy, but I will look into options.

The rear coaxial speakers are not that expensive, to be honest. In general, I agree with your comments, and that's why I will not, for now, be spending on a sub for the trunk. Maybe later, of course, but for now I cannot justify the big $$$ (and big power drain!) on a speaker that will live in the trunk.
