That's freakin' sick, port.

I'll be honest, I at first thought the LCD shell looked terrible. However, it's lookin' SHARP now. Crazy.

all things look like cr@p at the start but then you refine it to perfection

when a scalpter starts a statue out of a rock it looks like a ugly rock till he is done right

and the heater controls like trick I will not reveal till later cause its a little tricky to do

I have finished the steering wheel mod from the crappy pale gray colour to RED now all that is left is the windows switches on the doors then the whole car will be red once I'm done that I will post pics and a full DIY on the whole thing....

man of man I'm tired and sleepy, I have to get up early to do a few photo shoots then see my sticker guy to make up some stickers for the amps then get to work after work I have to do more work on the carputer still more fabbing to do more sanding more primeing and then finely paint probly the morning of the trip out thought I hope not... this will be tight. somedays I feel I should be (or rather are) doing a tv show and a really tight stupid deadlines

on another thread before i joined 8th, everyone said that it looks like ****, its abtrusive, ppl will break into my car...

and even here. i mentioned that i was painting my dash and ppl where like, RICE!, thats stupid, that will look ugly....

but thats from the foam stage... thats not whats in my head, what we have here is close to whats in my head... its looking better but still a long way away... with the screen done, the amps mounted the project is only 50% done...

there is still the OBDII reader the cameras, the IR LED's so they can see at night, the Tv tuner, WiFi, ..... the sub enclosure, amp racks...... there is another good month of work left.

remember i have had this vision before i bought this car... i staired at interior pictured for a good week looking and what im going to do, of this one and numourouse others... thats because there whernt any other civics out there... i ordered my car in october 05 and my screen later that month with a few bezzles.

ok then I shell update on my progress then...

in the case of the OBDII we can hock that up now rather then later but the cams the IR and TV ya that we can add later, we can add the amps and all now but make racks later...

ok picture time..

this is I MiNi DIY for changing steering wheel button lights to red LED's (easily done to blue just use a blue LED not a red one) the LED's in the buttons are surface mounted LED's meaning they are about 3mmx4mm top soldered to the board not like the regular LED's where they have 2leads that go through the board. since I dont have any surface mounted LED's all I have are regular 5mm (and 10mm) ones so what to do...?..... here let me show you.

first here is the whole where the assembly sits in the steering wheel

here are the buttons to take apart

here are the buttons all taken apart (2 snaps per side of button) be carefull..

(there are 3 little screws holding down each board)

heres what you do with the LED's, you have to snip off the top of the LED to make it flap this way it will not be focused at one spot but rather spread the light all around,

I fount that using the double bladed end of RJ45 or cat5 cable crimpers works best,

*WARNING*
the tops of these suckers top and fly off at great speeds so be carefull and aim away from face, eye protection is mandetory.
..

see that gray rubber thingy you have to cut out the little squares with a sharp blade in order the pop the new LEDS through.

snip off both leads on the LED so they are about 7mm long the made a 110* bend (>) 1/3 the way down the lead away from center then lower from that bend bend it 10 inthe the center this way the lead should look like this 7 and both leads should be two 7 (one backward to the other. then remove the surface mounted LEDS (de-solder or cut them off) and solder the new ones on

here it is with the cut rubber part on

and DONE

please enjoy this one

come on man why would I not have the drive to do something so easy (to me) I love doing this kinda of stuff man it's great it gets me pumped ....

next all I have left to change over to LED are the right and left windows switches on the doors and the little airbag light button thing then it's all red..

today I ordered some stickers to be made up for the amps that is coasting me 30$ for two stickers 9inches X 4inches and this from a place I just walked into the place I delt with for years wanted to charge me 80$ and all they had to do is hit print .... if any one has a pin knife vinel sticker ploter and Adobe illustrator in the GTA area that can do this for me for under $30 please speak up now (though I already paid the 30$ for the other stickers I needed then now though I'm picking them up tomorrow...)

tonight when I get home I will be doing finishing of the dash parts and more then likely painting them and the amps, also I still have to install under chair lighting facing to the back (it only lights up the front right now)

if any one in the GTA area wants to lend a hand doing some light sanding and perp work please for the love of god help us finish this on time

I'm at work now so i can talk...

all that is, is two led's, one red facing right and a ble facing left, the red mask on the switch filters out the blue and the blue one filters out the red... then that clear ring picks up the light and transmitts it to the knob, and as it turned it changes from red to purple to blue.

OH man.... yesterday i began fitting the screen in and putting it back together, it was appart for two years now and i forgot what goes where... like which way the wires go.

but i figured it out... io took some pics of the process of neetening it all up and harnessing...

i like everything to be neatly laid out. but oddly enough my work envornment is messy...

Im sure mmmken, vipersam and nevolution can atest to the messyness....
