12v ignition wire in dome light/sunroof wire connectors

Hello,

I am trying to hardwire my Valentine 1 radar detector. I'm looking for the 12v ignition wire (so power comes on only when the key is in position II). Can someone tell me the wire colors of the positive and ground wires?

I have the map light, moonroof, and Navi forward dome light assembly.

TIA!

postive wire--

the wire you are looking for is the 4th wire in on the purple wire side. 1st is the purple, 2nd is light blue, 3rd is darker blue, and 4th is the dark green with 2 stripes around the wire.

just wired my valentine in this am, and this hook up works fine.

Cool, dark green with the 2 stripes it is! Also, where did you splice the ground?
Thanks Steve!

for the ground I used a ring style crimped connector and hooked it to one of the screws that fastens the domelight assembly to the top of the car. I needed to bend the connector 90 degrees, stick it through one of the square holes on the side of the assembly and screw it down securely.
this way I only needed to splice into one wire.

Sweet, thanks! I'll probably just splice another wire. I can't get all the cords and plastic parts up in the headliner.

hmm, this sounds like a good Idea, I'm gonna go to the website to buy a hardwire kit for my alarm now (though I don't need mine to turn off with the key, it does it on it's own with a voltage meter that can tell the engine RPM's)

Would you be willing to post some pics of your install? I'm looking at doing this for my Valentine1 and could definately use some of your help. Thank you in advance.
