Pioneer AVIC-N2 yes/no?

There is a private local ad for one of these. He's asking $500. Never installed, NIB. Seems like a good price. Far better than I can get one for on the web. But the model itself is about 2.5 years old. It went for over a grand new.

But I'm clueless about car stereos, nav units, etc. Will this fit in an Si without dashboard modification? Anyone know anything about this unit as far as function and performance? Finally, if I buy this unit, where do you go for installation? Thanks in advance.

Hideaway unit : 7.1 in x 5.5 in x 1.2 in - 1.5 lbs, Main unit : 7 in x 6.3 in x 2 in - 5.5 lbs

Full-DIN

IP-Bus / AV-Bus

3 x Audio line-out ( RCA phono x 2 ), 1 x SPDIF output, 1 x Composite video input ( RCA phono ), 1 x Composite video/audio output ( RCA phono x 3 ), 1 x Composite video/audio input ( RCA phono x 3 )

2-way active crossover

50 Watts x 4

More information here.

yeah........ I used to have the AVIC-N2 in my 7th gen, then i sold it.

It was ok.... The processor was kinda slow, and the unit was a little bit loud with its fan. ALso, the navigation was ok but not perfect. The sucky thing with the navigation is that the navi map dvd must be in when using the navigation. If you take it out, it doesnt function. That kinda sucked.Other than that, its a good system. You can also hack it to watch DVD's while driving.

Save your money. (If it's 2yrs old, it may not be using sirfIII chip for the navi, almost positive it isn't) Pioneer USA - In-Dash Navigation

I'd wait a bit especially since all the newer nav's are coming out, you'll see prices drop dramatically over the next 6 months.

Are you looking for an indash nav?

Casually, yes. I couldn't bring myself to spend $1800 on the OEM unit. It just didn't work well enough for me to warrant that kind of cash. But if I could get myself into an indash system for around $1000, I'd probably do it. In the meantime, I have a very nice Garmin GPS mounted in the cubby in front of the shifter and it works great.

Eclipse and Panasonic both have dual din Navi units for around $700 - $800.
Should check them out.

$500 for the N2 is a decent price...as long as it's complete with both nav dvd's.

the maps that it comes with are a little outdated. new maps cost $250.

$500+$250....you can get new units for that price with newer maps....
