Went to my first audio competition saturday
They had a brand new out of the box TL.. they used the test to find my peak frequency and i think that probably drained out most of my power before burping
scored 143.4 in stock class 1 15", sealed-up on dash, daily driver box the guy with 4 15 or 18" solo x's in a wall powered by 4 orion 2500's only hit 149.2 my 2nd try.. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Good numbers for your DD. As for that Blazer with the Kickers, well DD is louder than Kicker. Period.
To Utsaappt802: I kinda don't believe your friend was hitting 170+dB in a DA/DC. As for gaining for dBs, for a theoretical 3dB gain you must double the power. |

Something must be off in the blazer. This year I was able to score 148.8 on the dash with a TL. I only had 2 RF T1 15's running off a RF T1500-1bd. I have already tore my stuff down for the season and have dropped down to 2 12's, RF P3's to be exact. The new 07 model P3 subs are LOUD. I will be running the same amp, 2 RF P3 12's tuned to 45hz, Kinetik HC1400 battery, and a RF 25farad capacitor. I think the T1's could have achieved about 3db more. But I didn't want to double my power to get there.
And if your running a DD sub, you should be able to pul more than 143 out of it. Those subs are badass and can handle some extreme abuse. negativezeroz, on the old audiocontrol systems, I can believe his friend was seeing a 170. The audiocontrols were way unaccurate. Thats why everyone has swithched to Termlab. I remember seeing a 151 off my old JL audio subs running off an old Kenwood 944 amp, max power at 2ohm was about 700 watts. That same setup today off the termlabs would probably score high 130's. |

143 is a very good legal score for a trunk car, the clinic test probably hurt my score alot, I hit 142.5 on the clinic 35/62 and 143.4 62/62 53hz 30 sec burp. I did not have my remote so i had to use the volume knob to go to full power.
I made this thread to post my progress not to hear how all these people are better than me good for them, idc. 2007Si - Let's see some pics or proof of that score, don't just post it in words. Thanks for any support guys. |

Mike, I'm not bashing you in anyway. Sorry if I came off that way. 143 is tremendous for 1 15. Don't get me wrong. I was just saying if you have a DD sub its a badass sub. Not saying the blazer is better, was just saying that if the guy has all that in the blazer something is wrong. If it was mine and I hit that I would tear it down. But dude, please accept my apologies if I came off as if I was bashing you. I definitely didn't mean it that way.
Mike also, can't get you pics of numbers cause I never take my camera to any comps. Heres a couple pics of the old setup: ![]() ![]() ![]() As you can see nothing special. Basically a fart box in the rear. Turned out I did not have enough power for the subs. Didn't want to add another 1500-1 as I didn't want to murder my alternator. I want to upgrade the factory alternator, but don't want Honda to say screw you when I go in for warranty work. I took a look at you profile and says you run the Fi 15. Never seen them in person but have looked at the videos on realmofexcursion.com. Sounds like a mean sub. When I was looking to rebuild I looked at DD, Fi, Re, and of course RF. Due to having a local dealer for RF I went back that way for warranty issues. Again man, my apologies for coming off as a prick if thats the way it seemed. Sorry if you mentioned this earlier. But which amp are you using now, the nine.1 or that other 3kw amp? Either way thats an excellent score from a single 15 out of the trunk. Wish I could get metered with a TL up here, but no one has one in Alaska
. Maybe when I head down to Phoenix this spring I can finally get metered. |

nice numbers. but i would have expected better from the guy with the solo x's. my last car i was very into sound competition and i had 2 12" L7's each in their own 2.25 cubic feet boxes and i hit 158 db. supporting that was teh OEM alternator (which i went through a few of during the time i owned the car, lol), a optima yellow top as a second battery, a 50 farad cap, and a bpx2200.1 jbl amp.

so does QS. Not saying negative's wrong, either. I agree with QS. It's more about application. It's too blanket of a statement to say that Kicker > DD as a fact. Opinion is another thing. |
