radar detectors ... the ones that work.

just thought i'd give all the speeders a heads up on the radar detectors that really work cuz i've seen many posts where people get many tickets with their 8th gens.

so here goes.

you have the usual ones at the top of the list that ar guaranteed @ least for 2 miles.
they are the valentine 1, passport x50 or 95001 and the bel sti.

the bel Sti is the ONLY 1 that is 100% invisible to any radar or laser detector made to date. 100% invisible and that's through independent testing. So for all you guys in those f'ed up states the bel Sti is for you and it works just as good as the valentine and passport units.

As a matter of fact their performances can't be ditinguished really apart from the valentine having more false alerts but then is the best at detecting laser (by which time it is too late anyway).

so these are your best choices and average between 450 + 500 bens.

for a complete system / laser protection, the only laser jammer that seems to work against all laser guns is the blinder m25 + m45. so look nowhere else.

on to the big boys.

for those of you with deep pockets + heavy feet, you can get a 9 mile protection front + rear. yes 9 miles!!! BUT at a cost.

this system pairs with your v1, x50 or 9500 or the Sti. u can get the front module only or a front a rear module.

$1000 and up depending on choices but they also provide you with laser jammers in the deal.

again this is from independent tests and proving to work.

all test info can be found here, http://www.speedzones.com/ loads of info here to help with your choice.

buy your 9 mile systems here and remember the bel Sti is the only 100% invisible system.

PS: safe speeds > radar detector

The V1 is permanently upgradeable. When a new software rev comes out you simply send in your unit and pay a small fee to bring it up to the current rev. If they come out with a new chassis, same rule applies, you pay a fee rather than having to buy an all new unit. The V1 has saved me in the 5-6k range of fines. It really works but you can't simply depend on it solely, you still need to scan constantly when exceeding the speed limit on the highway.

I luv my V1. I'll nvr use another radar detector. I'll take boggie counter and direction arrows over gps and less "false alerts" any day! I've got one of those talking Cobra detectors in my Odyssey, I just turn it off now, it annoys the crap out of me, and sux at judging signal strength. The V1 is extremely acurate with signal strength which lets u acurately judge the cops distance, if he's stationary or moving towards/away from u, and is also great for detecting "instant on" radar signals. My cobra hardly ever gets up to lvl5 (the highest) signal strength even when the cop is right in front of me, that's why I just turn it off, it's useless.

I would have to agree with you. I love my V1! It has saved me even in my evo! I would never go any thing less. :)

Thats crazy as hell man! I always see those "Speed monitored by Aircraft sign" and laugh at them and wonder why there even there because not once have I ever noticed a helicopter monitoring speed.

I really wonder if you'll get a ticket in the mail or something.

I don't like to rely on a radar ticket and I rarely speed on my daily commute unless I'm in spots or on roads where I know I'm safe, but my dad does have a v1 and i have used it plenty of times over the years and I love it.

sickyute, I'm really surprised you say the k40 performed horribly. For its price you would hope it would be at the top of the list, not too mention I know some friends and local shops who swear by it, weird.

people will swear by anything they sell these days.
it's called making a buck.
at the store i go to(cartronics) they always try to sell me one and say it's the best thing out there and blah blah blah.
i never got it cuz i'd need to get another detector for the other car, but with a v1 or whatever u can just carry it to whatever car.

they could never show me proof of it's performance apart from it's price. it's always "look at the cost of this thing, it must be worth it" ... riiiiight.

according to all the info. i've seen it's just not worth the price.
it's good but not the best.

They are still bullshit. You just need to get the spray for your license plates. It isn't detectable by the eye but it renders a photograph absolutely useless if taken of your plate. Problem solved. I've got a couple of friends that have been using it for 6+ months on the local tollway, where they take a pic of the plate if you don't pay or have a tolltag, so far 0 tickets/fines.

I saw a news report on cops using planes and helicopters to catch speeders. The pilots use stopwatches to calculate your speed then relay your car description to the cops on the ground who then pull you over. So I don't really think that spray would help much. This really sux tho since there's no way to detect it unless you happen to see them fly'n around.

They hover over a marked area of the roadway usually. They are extremely easy to spot.
