sedan- no tweeters.........wtf!

i got a lx sedan and 4 speakers (4 6.5's). I have the covers for the tweeters up front. Are there any wires up there for the tweeters or do I need to run wires. Im looking into just buying factory tweets but should i buy aftermarkets. Will I even notice a difference in sound quality

If you are going to run tweeters, do not run factory tweeters....and if you are going to run tweeters, run a set of 6.5in. components so that it includes crossovers to filter the frequencies going to the tweeter and the midbass driver.

If you buy a decent set of components you will definitely notice a difference.

I personally recommend, for beginners, a set of Polk Audio DB6500 components. Not too expensive, and sound great for their price.

I don't know if you'd notice a huge difference running off the factory head unit/speakers. If you got new speakers like mentioned above - you'll notice a big difference.

A set of "component" speakers consists of a 6.5inch midbass driver which would go in your door, and then a 1in. tweeter.

In your case, since the car does not come with factory tweeters, those "tweeter" panels in the corners of the dash are just that, panels...there is no space for the tweeter in models that do not have the tweeters installed already.

Basically what you will have to do is dremel a place up there to mount your tweeter, or put it closer to the midbass driver and improve your sound staging and imaging, but then again I have heard some of the most amazing setups with the tweeters radiating directly off the windshield.

Let's not forget here that the use of the factory tweeters would require the use of the factory amplifier!

This will cause you a world of headaches trying to rewire everything so that you can run your amp inputs from the headunit and then the amp outputs to the rest of the speakers...all of that trouble for sub-par sound quality when compared to the setup that could be had for the price of the factory aplifier/tweeters and your time to rewire everything.

This would be a curse in your situation to put the amplifier in, consider it a blessing that you do not have to deal with that.

To go a little off topic in the direction of the factory amplifier:
I consider it a blessing that I have a factory amplifier while performing my install. I can just hookup all of my speakers/tweeters to the factory wiring and then run my amp wiring from my 4ch. directly to my crossovers in the trunk while running my crossover inputs to the outputs of the factory amplifier.

Also, since I am avoiding the use of an aftermarket headunit by using the JL audio cleansweep, I can easily get the Cleansweep's signal by connecting all of its speaker wire to the inputs of the factory amplifier. And to get signal for my subwoofer amplifier, I can connect a line-output converter to the factory subwoofer amplifier inputs, and TA DA! I will be able to control my aftermarket sub-level with the factory subwoofer controls.

::end rant::

does anyone know the answer to this question?

Im in the same boat with a LX sedan, and would like to just add some tweeters, I just don't want to have to wire anything if possible.

There are no tweeters nor wiring in the tweeter panels.

Dude, that's some great info. Can you get into more detail about hooking up the factory wiring and head unit to amps and components (maybe a diagram if you can conjure one up)? I'm about to take this task on and I want to keep my factory head unit. Where is the factory amp(s)? Thanks!

the stock tweeters attach to the speaker cover. the hole in the dash is already there, so nothing needs cutting. didn't see any wires thou. i look again unless someone knows for sure. i hope i find the wires so i can put some factory tweets in my lx sedan.

I've got a set of Hertz components I'm going to install in my LX this week.

The hole is there for the tweeters under the panel but there is no wiring there.
Your on your own for that but there is a DIY for running the wires down in the DIY section.

According to the shop manual the tweeters just tap in with the speakers in the doors.
