HELP! Running Wire
I have to install 2 kicker 0 gauge amp kits and 1 kicker 4 gauge amp kit... where should I run the wire? I need good spots with the least amount of engine noise possible. Yes, 2 runs I'm going to run an American Bass VFL 200.1 (3,000 watts)
Thanks, I need to know ASAP. |

off topic: WHY IN GOD'S NAME DO YOU NEED THAT MUCH BASS???
On Topic: Run the wire from the trunk down and under the center console, and then route it behind the pedals. Drill a hole through the firewall in the driver's side of the car to the engine bay close to the left-front tire, and run it over the wheel well. |

Don't know if there is a DIY or not, but when I did it, you have to remove the thing surrounding the shifter first, and then that upper portion comes off pretty easy. Then you have you remove a bolt at the bottom of the center console, along with some other screws. Just get our your slotted and phillips and get prying. Worked for me!

You won't need dual 1/0 runs. A single VFL 200.1 will pull 250A at max output, which your alternator won't even support, let alone dual VFL 200.1s. Your JL will be running mids and highs so it will have a VERY minimal draw. All you NEED is a single 1/0 then split it to dual 4s and single 8, that's it. Then you can do a single run into the cabin and make your life easier. If you REALLY need more power. run a single 1/0 to the trunk but add some BatCap 800s and call it a day.

What is the max output for this "high output" alternator? My old truck had a 140 amp alternator with 1 run of 4ga to a Stinger battery in the rear. ...I miss my Belle... ![]() Anyways, do you know how much current you can pull through a "short" run of 1/0 wire??? (our cars have a "short" run if you go through the center console IMO) Just have 1 main power run and distribute it from there. Not that you would, but you could probably use 8ga from the distribution block to your amp(s) if it's a short run. |

All you need to do is drill another hole in the firewall. One run of 0/1 awg fits really snug in the factory hole with no grommet installed. Just route both runs under the center console. There is plenty of room under there. That's where I ran my 0/1 power. I will be running another run of 0/1 for the negative in the same place soon to put some batteries in the trunk. It shouldn't be hard at all. Getting the center console out is incredibly simple, as well as removing the back seat. There's detailed instructions on this site about removing the center console somewhere.
Good luck. |

For the 2nd run of 1/0, why don't you just ground the rear batteries and test the resistance between the 2 grounds to make sure it's good? |
