You can get off of eBay for about $400 USD, with free shipping. I've been playing around with the unit. I can't get any software to install on it. I'm thinking Coolnavi didn't add the Win CE support to install software. I did manage to replace the little arrow in the GPS with a little car instead. I think it looks cooler with the car.

Some things I found that I don't like about it. When playing videos that have a lot of action on screen, the video and sound skips a lot. Which I'm sure if the quality in the videos was reduced it would fix that. And I kinda wish it would display your speed on the gps unit, I'm just used to it from my laptop gps program, I guess. And for some reason the FM Transmitter will only go as low as 88.5, when I'd like to use 88.3, for no interfirence, not a huge issue, though. There's a ton of other frequencies to chose from.

Overall its a pretty sweet unit. Just need to figure out how to get software on the thing, to make it even sweeter.

It's nvram, so we probably have to write some sort of boot code to 'inject' the dll's or whatevere into the windows root directory with a rescue boot (power and okay button on startup brings you to the rescue screen)

.
can you please tell me which exactly site sell for $400 free shipping? I found only 1 site on ebay express sell for $400+ and $30 shipping. I dont want to spend more than 400 for some thing I havent seen in person.

I think this is it, I will buy this unit, waiting for the right price. Just for your information, I know this Coolsat company very well, been talking to custom service and many dealers in the last few days... this is what it comes down to: there won be long term fatory support in term of updating softwares, maps...etc. If it is truly a Zamm unit rebranded, coolsat is only a "middle man" that selling it in US. Since the unit never "picking up" (according to the dealer), most of the dealer no longer carry this product. The only source of software, map update will be from.... you guys (if you are able to do so)...... so please turn on your computer and start working hard

If you format the movies to 320x400 res they work flawlessly (so far)

Did you edit the nm_lang.dll to change the arrow icon?

DIY mang, I'll post it on the Coolnavi info site I'm working on...

GOod to see someone else getting into the Coolnavi guts.

Ok, if we can hack some of this, it would be perfect
1. newer map and firmware update
2. Text to speech
3. Blue tooth capable

Since this is the rebrand Zamm, can we "steal" their update, new features (as much as possible) and incorporate into this unit? Im dont know anything about computer, so you guy can fill me in on this....

I used a resource extractor / importer program to take the arrow out of the navman.exe program on the CF card. I was looking for what its called, but I couldn't find it. Its on my pc at home, Im at work now. But its the only one I could find that will replace the image too.

I only did one image so it only works in the always facing up mode of the nav program. But they've got a bunch of images, that can be replaced, its like the whole thing is skinable

I'm gong to try to replace the backround on the main menu, but that'll maybe be in an exe on the coolnavi itself.

EDIT* Ah, I found it. Resource Tuner is the name of the program.

Check out this:

You might be able to unlock it with just an SD card alone
As far as modifying the resources - you can load the app into Visual C++ 2005 and do a l lot of nasty stuff to it

Applications for this unit are endless.

Just think...

Windows Mobile CE 5.0, usb host port... engine diagonostics right there in front of you on a 7" wide screen monitor, with two video inputs... the possibilites are endless once development starts.

Would you have to design a program for this or is there software for windows CE?

I just purchased this system so Im excited ad can't wait to recieve it!!!!

I got it all packaged up for you right now. Double checked to make sure everything was in the box before I taped it up. I'm off to work now but my brother said he'll bring it into the post office today to ship it. If he flakes, which I don't think he will, it'll go out first thing tomorrow morning. Expect it shipped today though.

Perfect! Yeah, SDHC will not work on this unit. You won't need it because of the option of the external usb drive. (movies play back better from sd card, unless you recompress them to stream better with usb 1.1)

If you stream full movies that have been resized to 320x480 they stream perfectly, any larger and you get problems with usb drive. (I had to ocasionally pause and play a movie to play properly again when I didn't recompress it.) Other than that, haven't had problems. SD playback of large movies is better. Could be my drive is so full that they are fragmented too.. hmmm.. will have to check that out.

ALWAYS USE FAT FILE SYSTEM, DO NOT, DO NOT, FORMAT TO NTFS.
