Question Sub-comparsion question

I have 2 12" JL Audio W1's with a JL Audio 400 watt amp

I was thinking about selling them and buying 1 10" Kicker L5, I just wanted to know if the Kicker SUB will sound better then the 2 JL Audio Subs.

I am also considering selling the 2 12" Subs, because of the weight issue.

Any info is appreciated

This is a personal taste issue. My personal taste due to running a S12L7 with 700 watts is that Kicker sucks. Just my opinion. I didn't like the sound quality and spl was definitely not there.

I would say sell the 2 W1's and buy a good quality sub designed for you taste.

If your into SQ I can't help you with a recommendation.

If your into SPL go to Resonant Engineering. www.reaudio.com
I would recommend the sx series as it is resonably priced and is loud as hell.
But th RE series is still better than an L5 in my opinion.

go with the JL subs man....better quality and better sound...and the L5 takes a lot of air space so you will not be saving on weight too much maybe only a pound or two...

....Even though the kicker has more power and it is only one sub, and it is lighter.

BTW: I just had my JL Audio component speakers installed with a kicker 4-channel amp and it sounds great.

Just use the "right" box. That matters more than anything.

JL is just an overpriced brand!

What are you looking to accomplish? Higher SPL? more SQ? SQL? Most of the time it isn't the woofer, its the enclosure. What type of box are you running? Ported? Sealed? What type of port? Slot or round?

I had 15 inch Pyramid Super Blue woofers be louder than most at some DB comps. Everyone is always like WTF! Then you have to explain to them box design and how important maintaining voltage into the amps is.

But if it were me, I'd sell the JL's and buy 1 Image dynamics 12" IDQ.

They are 2 12" JL Audio W1's in a sealed box. The Amp is a 400 Watts

I was thinking of buying the 1 10" Kicker L5 because it weighs less and it has alittle more power then the 2 W1's

So you want it to sound better or louder?

Is the box mono? Or 2 separate chambers?

I can't stress how important the box is, so again:
Make sure you use the right enclosure.

So...I think the big question here is what about your current setup do you not like?

A few things to think about are space (one sub takes up much less than 2), cost, what you're looking to achieve, and the likelihood that you'll want to upgrade later.

I try to get what I think will keep me happy for a long time so I won't wind up spending more money later.

It sounds good, I just wanted to get something that sounds just as good, but weighs less.
