they are very similar youll just have to decide for yourself. Look at their features. The 9500i has the gps speed trap location system, but the v1 has other things like much better POP sensitivity and a rear radar port. So its really up to you. My dad has the 9500i and loves it.

I have an Escort Passport 8500 X50 and I think it's awesome, but then again I might not know any better.

The v1's arrows far surpass any other feature of any other radar detector. That was the sole reason I chose the V1.

My whole point is.... arrows... they show you what direction its coming from? How does that affect you pressing the brake?! I mean if a detector goes off... Your gonna hit the brake or slow down.... Your not gonna be like OMG its coming from the right side! Should I brake or not? Seems pointless. I think the SpeedAlert is awesome on the 9500i... If it picks up a signal it will display the speed you were going when you got hit

The arrows allow you to rule out false alarms. If Kband goes off and its coming from the side, you can look to see what side it's coming from.

It also allows you to know where to look for the cop, whether its behind you or what.

Sometimes I don't slow down for K-band but I always do with KA-band. Also you can have it show you what frequency of the radar is, then use that in conjunction with the arrows to further rule out false alarms.

Another nice fact is that you can send in the v1 for upgraded software.

No, because I may be getting a garage door opener or a cheap radar detector setting off my V1. I can use the arrows and signal strength meter to determine if I'm getting a strong or low strength signal and see where I need to watch out. No sense slamming on the brakes for a trap over a mile ahead or someone using their garage opener that you already passed half a mile back.
