I installed my Z2 about 2 months ago shortly after I bought the car. I've had about 5000 miles of experience with it since then and I love it. I bought it offline from sounddomain.com with their 5% price matching fro 1600 shipped.
I think the nav works pretty well I've used it a few times, one was getting back from WV to MA. I didn't overlook the route and noticed that it was going to take me through the bronx in NY so I rerouted. That was my fault though. After you create a route it gives you the option to go through 5 or 7 different route selections and pick the one you like best, I just picked the first one and took off, it was early and I didn't have my coffee so I wasn't thinking. I think the maps look good though, with some adjustments of the brightness and contrast of the screen all the colors and text look great when driving. Have not put a dvd in the unit yet but could pop one in and take a picture if you'd like to see what it looks like. I'm usually listening to xm most of the time but I've started copying cd's to the hard drive, pretty cool feature. No ipod adapter (I've got a Zune) but I'm going to wire up the aux input to the stock aux input jack once it cools down here. Keep in mind that there is NO bypass for this unit, regardless of what is seen on ebay or told by rumor. The unit is smart and can tell if the car is moving via speed sensor, internal gyroscope and gps input, it figures out when your moving. Just keep that in mind, I knew it when buying the unit as playing a dvd and driving is not my cup of tea The one thing that this does interfere with is entering an address, you can't do it while moving, you've got to set the parking brake to access that screen. If you pull the parking brake up a click when driving it notices it in like 10 seconds and locks the menu items out, but if your not entering 4 addresses a day this is not a problem, well it dosen't bother me at least. There is also an aftermarket trim ring you can buy that fills up the gap between the units faceplate an the stock honda navi trim piece, makes it look real good. |

Early Z1's where also bypassable, later models where not. Updating the software on an early Z1 also made it non bypassable. |
