Quick wiring question

Okay i hard wired my radar detector into my car where the dome lights are. There is no fuse in the setup so i have an inline fuse connector i can use? Here is my question. What size fuse should i use? I have an escort 8500 x50. Im guessing 7.5 or 15 amps. can someone please answer? thanks.

5A should be plenty. 15A is way too big. If the new fuse has a higher rating than the fuse on the circuit you are tapping into, the fuse on the dome light circuit will blow before the radar detector fuse ever blows.
