DVD conversion on navi
I was told that the DVD conversion on navi is not possible (or very difficlt) because the navi DVD drive is within the HU. Is it true? Has anyone one DVD conversion on navi? Thanks for the help!

Um...yeah. Where else is the drive suppose to be? Outside the headunit? lol
![]() As far as a DVD conversion, I'm not sure what you're asking. If you're asking to play DVD [Data-]ROM's it already does, but if you're asking if you can swap in a DVD Reader to play movies, the answer is no. Why would you wanna go through all that anyway? It's significanlty cheaper and less work to just buy an aftermarket system. |

. I was trying to get 8thcivic to merge with k20. They'd benefit a lot from it.

Gotcha! Yeah, there are a few options for DVD video if the brains are seperate from the screen, but that's not so with the Civic's navi unit. It's a shame, too. I had all kinds of plans. I guess that's what I get for going stock.

you should buy the avic-z1 from etronics.com (where i got my Pioneer AVIC-D1 in my SI and my Pioneer AVH-P6400CD which i had in my old civic). They offer it for $1700 (about wholesale) with 1 year warranty from Pioneer. It has a built in DVD player that plays DVD-R/RW and MP3's and sh*t and the navi is read off the 30 GB hard drive.
Here's a link to the page. http://etronics.resultspage.com/disp...x=0&image1.y=0 |

I think the sickest aftermarket navi is the eclipse AVN6600
http://www.eclipse-web.com/6600index.html The actual navi interface is extremly similar to the lexus navi's. I also like how it has the additional options like the back-up camera, HD-Radio, 5.1 decoder w/ center channel speaker, or the iPod connection.... It features the dual DVD players. Ohh and you cannot forget about the 5v preout ready for some serious speaker action.... i may look into selling my stock unit to hook this badboy up.... |

Better hope etronics.com has a seperate warranty, considering they're an unauthorized dealer. |
