New Head Unit Angle...

For the people who installed new HU's to their cars, how is the angle of the HU??? The way the civic's dash is laid out, it would seem like its facing up and that would make it difficult to read the display or putting CDs in. Just wondering...thanks.

The best way I've found is to put the HU in the lower din and the pocket on top.

^^ That's what I did. To me, with the h/u on top it just doesn't look good.

Like someone else said, you can play with the angle some. I have mine angled to be more level than it would have been simply by making new holes in the mounting brackets that attach to the dash kit. Then I used those new holes to put the screws for the headunit in to. Pretty straightforward.

Looks like that would be the route to take. Thanks for all the input!

I have mine in the top din, and I do not have any problems reading it. Other than my polarized sunglasses, those things make it impossible!

Did you have to level it in any way...and may I ask what head unit you have?

that's how I did mine. The angle is just fine. The only problem I have is the screen sometimes gets flushed out by the sun because of the huge windshield. But that's when this becomes handy:

I personally hate the angle, so I plan on getting a double din. But with that said if you get a radio that you can adjust contrast or angle down you should be fine. Loading cds isnt a problem with the angle.

Where did you get the din w/the cover from...I've been trying to look for one with no luck. I think that looks much better than just an empty slot. Also, what dash kit are you using? Thanks.

Did you have to cut a hole and take the stock head unit out? Here's a picture of mine:

How would you put an after market headunit in this (07 Civic Sedan)? Help. Thanks

Nah, the whole panel around the radio and a/c controls pops out and you replace it with a new one.

here's a DIY:

DIY: Aftermarket radio Install in an EX

that person uses Honda OEM parts, I used an aftermarket Scosche kit. I would recommend the OEM parts because the Scosche kit doesn't match perfectly and fitment would be better with the OEM parts.

good luck!

double dins are definitely more sexy, I just couldn't afford one.

I thought about upgrading but my pioneer is just fine and I have a garmin gps, so meh!

If you have the cash, go double din!
