Sdhc

Wow this is a confusing PITA....

I bought an 8GB MICRO SD card, which came with both a standard SD adapter and a MINI sd adapter. This 8 GB Micro card adapted into the MINI adapater slides into my Motorola Q and I have 8 gb of music on my phone, which supports bluetooth stereo.

So has anyone used an SDHC mini or micro SD card with a PC Card adapter successfully in their Honda navi? And by successfully, I mean all gigs work, all files up to 999 work, in all weather, hot or cold.

Is it limited to 1GB ?

This makes me think I need to buy ANOTHER card, compact flash this time, to use with a pc card adapter in the Honda navi. I was just hoping to use the same 8 GB micro sd sdhc card that I currently use in my phone.

Does anyone have experience with this set up?

Does anyone know if there is a firmware update for the OEM navi that would allow newer compactflash cards to be read? I have researched SanDisk's site and they suggested that. I bought, unknowingly, 2 8GB SanDisk Ultra II CompactFlash cards thinking I got a smoking deal. I only paid $20 each. NOw Im stuck with them. Someone please tell me there is a firmware update out there for us. Thanks all.

I just got these and they work 100%

Card adapter:

Amazon.com: Transcend - Card adapter ( CF I ) - PC Card: ANTOnline

(don't know why they say it's not in stock now, it was $8 + $6 shipping)

8GB Compact Flash card:

Amazon.com: Transcend TS8GCF133 8GB 133x Ultra Speed Compact Flash Card: Electronics

Only slight complaint would be the 5-10 seconds it takes for the card to boot up... and then the fact that I put 1500 tracks on the 8 GB card, and we can only use 999 tracks... But i'm wondering how does it choose WHICH 999 tracks? Does it cutoff the 500 farthest down in the alphabet? or how does it decide?

Flash Card Overheating ?

I have a Kingston elite 133x CF and I'm using a Sandisk CF adapter. If my card/adapter hasn't been used for a while, the Nav unit will play music off the card for about 20 minutes, and then it will freeze. If I put the adapter/card back in right after a freeze, it will then freeze again 30 seconds later. It seems like the card/adapter are overheating and the Nav unit isn't able to read the card. Is anyone else having this issue.

I just purchased both of your recommend items from Amazon for ~$38 shipped ... let's hope they work for me as well.

Received both components over the weekend. Works like a charm. I organized my own folders by Artist>Album>Song Title, and it made navigating the folders very easy. Make sure your ID3 tags are up to date, and it'll display perfectly. I only wish the navi system didn't list the absolute file number or folder number, especially since it appears to do it based on when the file/folder was written to the CF card. I found it better to organize everything the way you want it, then remove the files from the card, format the CF card, then copy the file/folders back over. This keeps the numbering system sequential.

The CF reader is very picky on the Honda Navi, when you buy a CF card, it's already preformatted to FAT, FAT32, or NTFS.

You must format it on a card reader to FAT32. After doing that and maxing out my CF card, it reads like a charm.

I use to think it was the heat, cold, or brand that was junk, come to find it was the way it's formatted, not all cards are formatted as FAT32.

Hope this helps.
I tried using an adapter with SD cad. It intermittently works.
I then read the above and reformatted it from "fat(default) to "fat32"
Works like a charm now.
Thanks a lot !!!

i ordered a really cheap card reader off of ebay. cost me about 5-6 bucks
takes a little while to get here cause its from hong kong but i put in a 2 Gig Sandisk SD card (less than 10$$) and it works perfectly fine so far and i filled up over a gig of music onto it.

if u go on ebay and search "PCMCIA 5 in 1" you'll find them. i got the EDUP brand one but theres also a BUFFALO brand.

I'm assuming you have Amazon Prime to get free shipping? Just trying to reconcile a $25 shipped price.

Also, if you don't mind, let me know if you notice a delay in the card reader when the car is first turned on. I would have thought the load time would be faster than 5-10 seconds on initial power up.

never said it was $25 shipped.
I said it was $25 and I said it shipped fast.

Initial power up by your definition is what?
First time the card is used?
Anytime the navi is powered on?

The first time the card went in it took a few seconds to read, the same is true when there have been changes to the data on the card. If I'm listening to a song, turn the car off and hop out; when I return and start the car the song kicks on in the place I left off just like a CD with a similar load time.
