yeah but that obliterates your ability to find a single track easily... I'd rather just have 2 or 3 8gig cards.... or you can buy an Ipod adapter and just use your ipod. I've been in contact with the guys at Peripheral and they seem to have one that is very good

Hey guys after spending a year crashing my Navi screen, I think I figured out why some CF cards don't read or crash your Navi screen. I just traded my generic 4 gig card for a SanDisk 2 gig and it still doesn't work, I'm pissed it was NTFS formatted too.
The CF reader is very picky on the Honda Navi, when you buy a CF card, it's already preformatted to FAT, FAT32, or NTFS. You must format it on a card reader to FAT32. After doing that and maxing out my CF card, it reads like a charm. I use to think it was the heat, cold, or brand that was junk, come to find it was the way it's formatted, not all cards are formatted as FAT32. Hope this helps.

I have a PC Card reader in mine that will only read up to 1GB of my music even if it's a 2GB card. I'm wondering if it's because my card is formatted in FAT instead of FAT32? Any ideas? |

I bought one of these about a year ago:
pcmcia card reader, PC Components, Desktop Laptop Accessories items on eBay.com They are always selling a SLEW of them on ebay and they ship out of hong kong for free. Price ranges for about 2-7 USDollars. And then I use 1GB SD cards but I wish I could just get a 2GB to work. I'm wondering if it's the formatting in FAT that's the problem. I might experiment with FAT32 this evening. But it does work, just cuts you off at 1GB for some reason. |

BEWARE, i just got the sandisk 6-1 card reader, with a 2gb sandisk sd card. I CAN ONLY PUT ON 1GB OF DATA ON THIS CARD. I get a "cannot find the sector requested " error.
Per the sandisk website: SanDisk | Products | Accessories | SanDisk PC Card Adapters For those too lazt to click lol: IT SAYS: Turn your SD™, MultiMediaCard™, SmartMedia™, Memory Stick™, Memory Stick PRO™ or xD-Picture Card™ into a PC card with the SanDisk 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter. It’s quick, and makes it easy for you to transfer and store more of your world on your PC. Advanced Features: Read and write (with capacity limitations) to SD, MultiMediaCard, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO or xD-Picture cards - SD (up to 1GB)- MultiMediaCard (up to 128MB) - SmartMedia (up to 128MB) - Memory Stick (up to 128MB) - Memory Stick PRO (up to 1GB) - xD-Picture cards (up to 512MB, none M or H) the adapter HAS CAPACITY limitations, on READ and WRITE. So i bought a 2 gb for no reason, bc i can only throw 1gb on it. I could have saved the 50 bucks ( 1 adapter, 2 2gb cards ) and just burned 700 mb data cd's for 30 cents a pop. IM SO PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW. Most of you noticed the problems in the car only, becuase you put the files on the card WITHOUT using the adapter ( used a different card reader ) I personally used the sd card, IN the adapter, IN my laptop, PCMCIA slot, and thats how I encountered the problem. After good research I found the info within. Im going with the adapter and cards above ( in the pictures above ) and going with CF IT NEEDS TO BE NOTED on the the 1st post, that SAYS it works, THAT IT DOESN'T. Again, refer to sandisk's site for confirmation, that IT DOES NOT read OVER 1 gb on sd, and not over 128MB on other cards ( PRETTY USELESS ADAPTER ) the posts are only as good as the info in them! fix it !! Thanks. Last edited by NA for now; 10-12-2008 at 10:35 PM. |

fat and fat 32 result in the same issue. ( confirmed, just formatted and tried ) its not the file format, ( as discussed above ) its the adapters issue.
EVeryone who has complained of the 1gb issue, is victim of this ADAPTER. take it off the YES IT WORKS List !! seems like every post has this problem, and thats the reason why !! PUT IT ON THE DOES NOT WORK ( above 1gb ) LIST NOW !!! Sandisk Ultra Compact Flash Adapter ( shown above in pictures as working, I got it, it WORKS. ) -or- Sandisk Compact Flash Adapter, ( non ultra ) WORKS, $ 5.99 at my local best buy. Sandisk Extreme III Compact Flash 4 GB Card ( shown above in pictures as working, It works, i got it for $ 34.99 ) Sandisk SDCFX3004GA21 Extreme III CompactFlash 4GB Memory Card in Compact Flash Memory Cards at JR.com 4gb, seems to be the biggest WORTH getting to me. 4mb song (avg) x 999 songs, is right about 4gb. Get the GB that fits your style/requirements. Last edited by NA for now; 10-22-2008 at 10:21 PM. |

I just picked up a Transcend TS8GCF133 8 GB 133x CF card from Amazon for $22. Transcend sells the card for $26 direct, and a PCMCIA adapter for 8 bucks. I ended up buying the adapter from them and had no trouble, though their web site crawls sometimes and I had to juggle the checkout page to get it back onto https secure mode. Both the adapter and card are working perfectly in my 2006 Civic.
I have just under 900 songs on the card right now. Most are encoded at 256 kbps VBR, so it's sitting at around 6 GB. An 8 GB card, which ends up being 7.5 GB (FAT32), is just about perfect if you're using higher bit rates. For Mac OS X users, I installed a program called Blue Harvest to keep .DS_store files and "._" resource files from being written to non-Mac volumes. This had originally ballooned the directory up above 999 files and the card did nothing. No errors, nada. Getting rid of the extra files fixed things 100%. I'm also using a program called Media Rage (the "Organizer" module) which can re-arrange audio files into folders based on their ID tags, so I can drag an iTunes playlist of songs out into a new folder and get them organized as Artist/Album/ for the card instantly, then just copy the whole lot over. I have a DLO Transpod for my iPod Touch, and it works well with the Line In, but now that large Compact Flash is so cheap it's like a permanent iPod that's always there (with nothing extra to hide). It's great! Last edited by KernelG; 10-19-2008 at 12:47 AM. |

I was hoping that Honda had fixed the 999 song issue with the 09 model, so I got the SanDisk Ultra PC Card Adapter and a SanDisk Extreme III 16GB compact flash card. I loaded up the card, but once did some testing, it still hits the 999 song wall. Since that was the case, the 16GB card went into camera and the 8GB went into the Navi unit.

The adapter I'm using is ancient - I just happened to come across it last week. It's an Epson PCMCIA adapter for CompactFlash card. The back shows PCMCIA PC CARD ATA, and the string ECFA-ADP. That's all I have, but it seems to work like a charm. |
