Newegg.com - Transcend 4GB Compact Flash (CF) Flash Card Model TS4GCF133 - Flash Memory

Transcend 4GB for about $30 shipped works like a charm.

I think I'd gonna have to goto CF to get the capacity I want (8GB) - ugh.
Spent 70 on and 8GB SDHC card and a PC Card to SD adaptor... for nothing.

Are the 4GB Sandisk CF's the highest capacity that will work from Sandisk? Anyone confirm a 8GB Extreme III works?

I tried to use it with a Transcend 8GB SDHC and it gave me an error, might be because of the amount of music tho...
I have a ton of folders with music in them... but like 1 folder for a specific band with all thier songs in that folder, so the folders don't go deep (only one level), but there's like 40 folders with about 40+ songs in each folder.
Too much I wonder?

*edit* removed all the folders and just left the music there alone ... 977 songs.... STILL DIDN'T WORK! Ugh.
The Sandisk 6 in 1 card reader only supports SD cards. Which means SDHC might work in some cases, but is mostly likely not compatible. Have to go with compact flash to get 8GB. SD maxes out at 2GB.

8GB CF works!

SanDisk Extreme III 8GB compact flash card with a SanDisk Ultra PC Card Adapter works. Although there's nothing you can do to get past the Navi unit's maximum file limit. It just ignores anything after the 999th track.

Compact flash is definitely the way to go. Could never get my 2GB SD card to work reliably with more than 1GB of songs.

8GB is gonna be about the limit then, cuz for most... 8gb is more than 999 songs.
Good to know.
I basically think it'd be wiser at this point for me to just go with a Ipod controller and the 160GB ipod classic. Would work well for my so I can load ALL music I own (200+ CDs and another like 5500 songs) onto a player that'll play thru the stereo.

I thought the iPod controller was no longer available? I would so buy an iPod if I could make it so I could change songs with my steering wheel controls and it would display on my navi...

Make sure you check out this review of Honda's iPod connector. Looks like it leaves a lot to be desired.

Hey guys.. Just got a 2gb card and adapter from Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! and it works great. Cant beat it for the price.

10.99 - Card - Newegg.com - Transcend 2GB Compact Flash (CF) Flash Card Model TS2GCF133 - Flash Memory
8.99 - Adapter - Newegg.com - PPA 1134 PCMCIA to Compact Flash Adapter - Adapters & Gender Changers

I have not tried this in Cold weather yet but Im hoping this will still work fine. Total price with shipping was $22.28.

Will the card readers play the protected mp3 files that you get from napster, etc?

Ive become familiar with drm removal software, just rather not have to use it.

Great sticky folks. Thanks for all the help. I had no idea about the 999 song limit. So does that mean anything over 2GB is a waste? Also, what is the need for the card adapter? Is that so the card doesnt get lost in there? Will this keep the navigation screen down?

the limit is not in the X GB, it is in the 999 songs. Let's say I have 5,000songs but each one is only .5 MB. That would fit on a X GB card, but I would only be able to have 999 songs...

I personally have 2 4Gig cards. One is full and the other is not quite 1/2 way full. Neither have anywhere near 999 songs on them.

The adapter is because the PC Card slot does not take a Compact Flash card... you need to put the card in the adapter and pop the adapter in. This will go fully into the navi unit and you will be able to close the face. You will see when you get the necessary hardware.

Just stick to the ones in the picture above, those are the best. Also, I would not get any card that is above 4 gig personally.
