Help needed deciding on an aftermarket Navi system...

I'm looking for a navigation system for under 2 grand for my 06 Civic Si. I've been looking at the Pioneer Avic-z1, Eclipse AVN5510, and the new Panasonic Strada. Which of these would you go with or is there anything better than these 3 for under 2,000 dollars?

Also, what else will I need to buy along with the unit? I know i'll need a double-din dash kit and I was looking at the scosche one for 69.99. Will I need anything else before I take it to Circuit City and get it put in? Thanks.

Also, how's the Eclipse AVN5495 in comparison to the others?

it seems i'm talking to myself, but is there any serious differences in installation as far as getting the OEM navi put in compared to an aftermarket? i've heard that OEM installation is more expensive but have no idea why.

You're probably not getting much of a response since this has been covered several times. Do a quick search for "aftermarket navigation" and see what comes up. There are several units out there that are highly recommended.

Good luck.

I just bought a Z2 brand new for 1600 shipped. I have not installed it yet since my car is in the body shop.

I'm leaning toward the Z2 since I can't find a Z1 brand new, only refurbished. The problem with the Z2 is there's no bypass, but I don't care about watching movies while the car is in motion. I would like to use the navigation functions without having to park though.

Concerning the navigation stuff, what all will the system NOT let you do while the car is moving? I've been trying to find more info on this but haven't had any luck.

Get the Eclipse AVN6610, I hear a lot of bad things about Pioneer's Navigating errors.. Last summer.. the eclipse navi saved me and my friend and his dad when almost all major highways were flooded out and was a really helpful aid on the way home.

Plus, eclipse is much better in the audio environment on their navi's.

thanks for the suggestion. with the 6610, will it do everything while the car is in motion or is there a bypass? also, what's the difference between 6600 and 6610? I found a 6600 at a local shop for $1399 installed. good deal or no?

thanks to all who posted and offered suggestions. I bought the eclipse avn5495. i don't like iPods (bad experiences with using iTunes), so I was partial to a system that had a hard drive for ripping music.

i'll post some pics when it's installed and everything

Do not get your stuff installed at Circuit City or any other big box audio place. Do it yourself, thank me later.

I found a specialty shop that can do it. I don't know anyone that could help me put it in myself and I don't know the first thing about that stuff.

Before I decided to pick up an OEM unit I was looking at this kit:

No one in town can install my system because none of them have a wiring harness for a 06 civic si. I have no earthly idea what that is or how to get one. Wonderful.

i have an eclipse AVN6600 for sale if you want i used it for 6 months, i'm selling the Scion i had it in i'll take 800 for it don't really need it. It would be better if someone get a good price than the dealer gets it.

Thanks for the offer, but I already purchased a unit (avn5495). It's just a pain finding someone to put it in my car.

Ok. I got it installed and it looks pretty good. The only problem is that at night, the buttons along the side of the unit don't light up. Is this something i'd be able to fix myself? Do I need some other parts or something?
