You may not be able to get enough bass with the stock HU. I think it will lower your bass when you turn up the volume. Let us know how it turns out.

When I had my Sonoma my bass would lower as I tuned up the volume. It seems like it would cut the gain down by itself. It depends how hard you want it to hit. If it sounds good no worries. For all I know factory HU do not do this anymore or there is a special adapter.

Yeah i was told that i needed to buy some sort of adapter to allow the sub to hit harder and clearer... runs around 45$... told me it wasnt necessary but its a good investment to get better SQ... however the friend i was telling you about didnt use anything like that and his sounds pretty good...

Get a line out converter (needed to hook up aftermarket subs to stock HU) and a JL cleansweep (gives aftermarket sound quality from the stock HU) and you should be good to go

The cleansweep is expensive. I looked into it before I put in my HU. Very nice.

I'll be getting it installed at Future Shop... not sure if u have em in the states, its the equivalent of best buy basicaly... ive herd good things bout the technician thats going to do the install in my car so i dont have n e hesitations about going there. And the installation is garanteed for life and u dont pay to have the equipment removed(my car is leased)

I have never heard it in person but being JL it is probably worth it. I think Alpine has a similar product. I am partial to Alpine products. They have always treated me right. I will look for links because I might get rid of my HU and go back to stock.

The bass does go down as the volume goes up. I have the stock HU and i've confirmed this with a multimeter and a 50 hz test tone.

I put the multimeter to the amp as if i was setting gain. Once i pass 15-20 volume on the HU, the voltage starts to go down, lowering the bass.
