Head Unit + Steering Wheel Controls

Hi guys, I did a quick search but could not find what I needed so apologies if it has already been asked elsewhere.

I recently bought my 2007 Civic VTi and the first thing I wanted to do was install a new Head Unit for the stereo as the standard one is pretty basic, and i'm also wanting to be able to play MP3's on it which I can not currently do. When I asked the fella at the Honda showroom who sold me my motor about whether it was possible to install a new one and still have the Volume, Channel, Mode controls on the steering wheel still work he said it was not possible. To be honest I found this a bit hard to believe and thought it may just be him not knowing, so do any of you know if this is possible at all? I'm not all that good with anything electrical so if I have left out anything just let me know and I will add it to this post. It would also be great if anyone could point me in the direction of a particular make/model that you know would work.

Just another quickie too - my car keeps electricuting me when I open it with the door handle from the outside. How can I stop this from happening? I am actually starting to dread getting in my motor lately

Thanks in advance

I have my car setup with an aftermarket HU and I can still use the controls on the steering wheel, just have to get an adaptor for it, and the head unit has to be able to support it.

I have been looking at doing this with my Civic, so I went ahead and did my research on it. It is all depending on what after market head unit you go with. Crutchfield.com has two of them. I have yet to order one, so i do not know how they handle or how they work, but from the reviews on Crutchfield they seam to be alright. heres the link for ya bro!
