Sure if could be done, but I don't know why you would want to.
Walmart tweeters would be just as good sound wise, and cheaper @ $20. And to run them just do a T-tap into the existing front speakers near the head unit. Takes like 20 mins to do. And you will get the same effect with a much cheaper price. Did it for my wife on her LX sedan, its not overwhelming, but its noticable, and cripser. |

Almost gave up on a response to my question. Thanks kelrog! That is exactly what I was looking for. Now, can you give me a bit more detail on the Walmart tweeter that fits? And are the front speaker wires labelled near head unit or do you need a wiring diagram? Thanks.

I just got 1" tweeters. They are pretty cheap, like $20 bucks. They come with speaker wire as well. and a plastic surround/pod. They came in a red and clear plastic package, sorry can't remember the brand, pretty much no name. EDIT: here is the pic of them in the store. ![]() Anyways, I took the tweeters out of the pods, be very carefull not to break the speaker. then I mounted them to the factory locations, and ran the speaker wire thru the dash and glovebox. Then I tapped into the front right and left speaker wires about 6" from the stereo, with T tap (vampire taps) I connected the positive and negs. As for the wiring I just used the wire out diagrams from the ex sedan aftermarket headunit install. Here. And if you think you have connected it to the wrong wires, just use the stereo, and adjust the balance and fading, to find the correct wires. Took me about 30 to an hour, due to the speaker pods I had to take apart. I think it was worth it, because I hated sitting in the front, and blocking the highs from the speakers with my legs. =] Last edited by kelrog; 05-27-2007 at 10:50 AM. |

Excellent info. Just one final question: The way you connected the tweeters is in Parallel with Front speakers. How is the EX wired from factory? Because impedance will decrease if wired in parallel and I don't want to overload the amp. If wired in series, impedance will increase but one blown voice coil will disable both the tweeter and the front speaker. So which way is it wired by design?

I had JBL Pro series components (1" tweeters and 6.5" coax) installed in my LX sedan...just made y connection with front 6.5 coaxials...sounds alright..but I really need an amp to make the components sound better. you can definitely tell a difference with the tweeters in the dash...much clearer sound than just coming from the door speakers.
