Ebay Nav unit installed in my 09 Si
So I figured I would help out the community and give some of my impressions and a review of the ebay Nav unit available for our cars.
I bought my unit from Erisin, shipped from China fairly quick, about a week from when I paid to when I had it. It was shipped via Fed Ex and the box was nondescript, but was in good shape and the packaging kept the head unit safe. ![]() Unboxing the unit ![]() ![]() ![]() My unit was advertised with a free 2GB SD card for GPS maps, it actually came with a 4GB card, that's okay by me. ![]() I had 1 minor issue when trying to install the passenger airbag light. This required some minor shaving on the side of it where the screw hole is. ![]() My unit did not have the dimmer wire on the vehicle harness side, so I added it and wired it to the deck. ![]() Here is the wiring mess for factory amp integration. Soldered the RCAs to the deck wiring to aviod cutting up the factory harness. ![]() Here it is installed ![]() A few things, the ad stated that the unit would only work with 4GB usb/SD cards, I had a 32GB USB stick that I was using for music with the factory head unit and it does work with this. The steering wheel controls DO work, ALL of them. Although it doesn't look it in the installed picture, the color does match very well. *Edit, here is picture of the hazard button which better shows the color match. ![]() I did not have to connect the e-brake to make the video portions of the deck work. There is a bit of noise coming through at times when the vehicle is on, probably more to do with my RCAs soldered in than anything else. I plan to upgrade door speakers and get a nice amp to run everything. Hopefully this will clear things up a bit. If anyone has any questions, let me know, I'll do what I can to help. *Edit* Here is a short video of it Last edited by b16crxturbo; 03-03-2012 at 02:19 PM. |

So you can watch dvd's on it? And does all the GPS stuff come loaded on the SD card? I've been looking at these but have been hesitant to buy one for the fact it would be a cheap knock off and not work well!

$373 is what I paid, there are a lot of different versions of it available with widely varying prices. I've seen them as cheap as $300 and as high as $650, not sure what's different about them other than the interface.
This is the one I purchased. Erisin ES836L 7" HD 3D Car DVD Player GPS iPod PiP BT TV for HONDA CIVIC | eBay |

That's funny. It has a tv tuner? Can you hook up HD antenna to it and watch tv while you drive?
Chinese electronics are hit and miss. Ever try to use a knockoff iPhone? Some come with stylus haha. They often have the look down ok.. but usability leaves a ton to be desired. Also, you might want to remove the first pic with your address in it. |

I wouldn't say it's as responsive as phone for the touch screen, but not terrible as far as lag. You can see some of it in the video I posted. I wouldn't say it fits perfectly, but I would give it probably 8.5 or 9/10.

The GPS works very well in my opinion, simple to use and has a few interesting features. Allows you to set audible warnings for speeding if you choose. Also allows for input of photo radar/red light camera locations with warnings if you want. Yes, it does retain iPod connectivity. I don't own one, but had a friend plug in his iPhone 4 to try it. It will charge and you can use the deck or steering wheel buttons for control. We tried Pandora as well via his phone. It will play audio, display track/artist info on screen, and you can skip tracks with the deck/steering wheel. Last edited by b16crxturbo; 03-05-2012 at 01:34 PM. |
