My bangin new stereo! (Resized)

For all of you flamers who didn't like my huge pictures, this one's for you. I've had most of this equipment for a while. The only thing new in this write-up is my Boston Acoustics Pro-Series 6 Components. They sound increadible! I still have the first set of Boston Pro's I ever bought, back in 1997. They still sound awesome today, and I'm using them for rear fill. Everything else came from my last car. All of this was installed by Auto House in Nashville, TN. They are a one stop shop for cars. Specializing in Audio, Engine Work, Tint, and Custom Upholstery. It's seriously a "Pimp My Ride" kind of place.

As you can see, the Scosche kit does not match perfectly, but I'ts close enough and not noticeable in the car.

Kicker Solobaric L5 in a ported box tuned to 45Hz, and my baby the Kicker
KX700.5 This baby pushes out 70X4 and 420X1. It runs the entire stereo.

I could not believe how shitty the stock speakers were. They weigh about a half and ounce, and the magnets are the size of quarters.

They Dynamated the stock holes to dampen them for the new components.

They had to trim the trunk bar a little to make them fit

The tweeters were placed into the stock locations and the front crossovers were neatly tucked inside the dash. The rear crossovers were placed beneath the rear deck.

The rear compnent set's tweets were mounted in the center so the would not degrade the front image or stereo seperation. It works marvelously!

Finally, here is the wiring being run throughout the car and a pic of the amplifier installed. It was not possible to mount the amp in the center of the seats due to lack of mounting positions. So they opted to do w/o the end caps for a cleaner more centered look on the left rear seat.

Nice setup, but they could have looked into some spacers for the rear speakers so you might have been able not to cut the torsion bar.

If you look closely you'll see that the rears do have spacers on them. If they had been flushed the entire bar would have had to be removed. The little piece they cut off was useless anyway. It still works exactly as it did. Thanks for the props and I'm looking forward to riding the dragon with you guys.

I'm with Cyber, definitely would've got a different head unit. I'll leave my opinions of Kicker aside but at least it's somewhat a quality brand.

Plus, why didn't you just resize the pics in your original thread???

I forgot the older Bostons didn't have the mounts to make them a coax. I love my Bostons. I have the pro 6.5's in the front and pro 5.5's in the rear (coax) and though they are a few years old, they sound awesome to this day.

Wow!

You guys brought this one back from the dead. I installed this system in January of '07 and posted the thread soon after.

The front set is a set of Pro 6's. They are '07 models. I really like the fact that they are a 3 ohm impedence. They get more power from the amp b/c of this. They do have the option of coax mounting the tweets. I just thought the image would have been better w/ the tweeters higher. That is actually how Boston reccomended them to be mounted back in the day w/ their old component sets. To be honest I wish I had used the coax mounts as the reflection off the glass was a little bright. I fixed this by attenuating the tweeters a couple of db on the crossover. I would use the coax mounts but it's such a PITA to do this I am just going to live w/ it. It sounds really good and the image is absolutely perfect. It's just not musically as accurate b/c the speakers aren't coincidal, but i digress.

The rear set are the old school Boston Pro 5.25's. They just will not die. 11 years old and still kicking.

Yes the installer is a former friend. We aren't exactly on speaking terms now, long story. Anyways, he took the grommets loose and fished the wire through w/ a coathanger w/ the wire taped to it.

I ditched the shitty Blaupunkt deck about 6 mo's after this install. I now have an Eclipse CD7000. It is by far the best sounding deck I have ever owned, and I've owned a Denon CD deck w/ a copper chassis before. I really love my Eclipse.
