I need help running speaker wire for front door Components
http://www.8thcivic.com/DIY/speaker-...%20Speaker.JPG
That would be the way it is done in the tutorial. If you look closely, it looks like he cut open the rubber boot and then put his wire in that way... That's the blue wire you're seeing in the door jamb. I would like to do this a different way. I have tried doing a coat hanger bent in odd shapes to just get all the way through the rubber black part holding the stock window/door lock controls. The problem is that there is not enough room on the inside of the car to get the wiring through that rubber part. I have worked on this all day long, and while I was at it I somehow reset my locks so now they lock when I start driving after turning the car on. I'm aware there is a sequence I can do in order to get it to stop doing this, which I will do. That was just my example that I have indeed tried this about 10 times with no luck... If there is any other way to do this than the way listed in the DIY, please help me. Thank you for your help. Also, the reason I am doing this is because I have an extra amp and I want to amp the stock speakers until I get my new comps. next month. Thanks. |

Ok folks, I finally ran the wire through my driver's door, and in the process I had to unhook both side of the rubber boot (from the car and from the door). Getting the door one back in was cake.
It isn't possible to get the car side boot back on without taking off the car door. This should be no big deal right, well, it is. It is almost impossible to get to the blots in order to unscrew them, there is just no clearance for a ractchet for some reason. It's ridiculous. Right now my car door boot is just loose and I could barely get the plugs back in from inside the car in order to be able to do the windows and locks. This sucks. |

Update: Went to Sears and got a few things in order to get the door off, fyi: the door is way heavier than I thought it would be, good thing I had a buddy there to help me. It was also pretty damn hard getting the bolts back into the door after taking them off.
I did get the boot back in the car though and it looks completely stock like nothing is there. ...Can't wait to do the passenger door... |

Wow, so it looks like I pretty much broke my driver's door somehow. Whenever I open or close it it rubs against something somewhere and it's not too great. Apparently when I put the door back on something didn't line up right or maybe I somehow bent one of the hinges (I sure as hell hope not). I'm wondering where I can take it so they can just pop off the door and have a look at what I messed up...

For anyone that starts with the driver's door and figures the passenger door will be much easier because there's no fuse box and all the steering column jazz over there.... is sadly mistaken.
I popped off the black piece in the passeneger's floor board with no luck to even getting close to the spot where the wire will come into the car. Now you'll get to pop off the panels along side the passenger seat in order to get to the rubber hose where we will run the speaker wire. This is going to be realllll fun. |
