Sirius Thoughts, your opinions please!

All right, a recent mod to my Chevy Tahoe got me to thinking about something, First abour that mod. The Tahoe has XM from the factory. Sirius has a piece that will replace the facrtory brain box and includes an antenna and such. I replaced the XM box with the new Sirius unit using there adaptor cable HU to Brainbox. I then took the clip off the end of my factory XM Antenna. At this point the Sirius and XM antenna connections are the same. Bascially XM using a bulkier plastic clip that surrounds a universal XM/Sirius Plug. There are plug and play adaptors that are out there as well. Turned it on and Bam there it was as though it was Sirius from the Factory. Perfect reception, displayed text etc. To get to the point I have not taken apart the Factory Nav I have but I do know that Alpine makes it. Couldnt we use the factory antenna with a sirius adaptor, and then use the Alpine Sirius brainbox like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/SIR-ALP1-Alpine-...QQcmdZViewItem

I would think the plugs would all work because its Alpine unless they made a honda specific plugs and such. What do you think guys. O and if you would like to see a thread about the GM conversion here is the one that guided me

From what I've heard, the stock Honda navi unit has specific connectors to the XM tuner box that are different from the Sirius box and they are not compatible. If this is not true, I'd like to know since I prefer Sirius programming over XM.

Sirius has the NFL, I'm gonna renew XM for the $77 for the first year, then drop it and go back to Sirius, through the Aux port.

Go Bills!

I've had Sirius for 2 years and like it. I renewed for 2 more, but either Sirius OR XM would do the trick.

I had Sirius in my truck and I have an XM portable radio. I really prefer XM.

I still think that the Honda connectors for XM radio on the stock navi unit are different and no one has made this connector yet for Sirius.

No the 11th picture is of the antenna adapter.

"Now, for the best part: The Antena: There is NONE! I found a guy on the xm forums who makes harnesses to go from the honda antenna to a sirius antenna. Turned out he was local, drove to his place, and he did the following: He cut off the conector on the stock antenna, and soldered a standard aftermarket male plug. He then made me a mini coax with the aftermarket female plug to the sirius. He also made me a tiny pigtail, femae aftermarket, to honda male, so if I ever decide to go back to the xm honda system, its all plug and play. here is the pig tail:

"

I'm talking about the antenna connection not the control and audio.

Gotcha. We were talking about 2 different things. You were talking about the antenna connection and I was referring to the tuner connection. All clear now.
