Gear indicator: what do you think?

Ok, during a drive home one night, i was listening to music pretty loud. I was kinda into the music and not paying much attention to driving(this is bad, i know. Ive gotten a couple speeding tickets from this sorta thing). I looked down and noticed i was in third gear on the highway doing about 60mph. EEK!!! So i began to think of a way to put a Numeric Cathode in my car to tell me what gear im in. id be able to have it say 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and R. for the Si guys and gals it would be able to do 1,2,3,4,5,6,and maybe R. If i were to develop a way to do this, would anyone be interested?

I'm not going to waste time looking into it more, but if you really want something like this you can probably just buy something and not waste your time.
thanks for the info on that, but im not gonna spend that kind of money, im poor as it says <<<<<

also, i love projects and love electronis. soldering gives me a... well... you know

to guage interest. i could maybe do this cheaply and sell it at an extremely cheap price to fellow 8thcivicers. just wondering, and seeing if anyone can give some input or ideas

Ummm i dunno about you guys but my hand is over the shifter too much to ever be able to see lit up numbers at the top of it. Oh well. Still a cool idea though.
