Alpine setup. Power wire size???
I have ordered Alpines D310, in conjunction with the 1 din center channel speaker, components for front and rear, and a 10 type r sub.
I also bought the 5 channel theater amp by alpine, as well as a 250X1 amp by alpine as well. First off, Anyone heard any bad stuff about this equipment? Secondly, What size power wire should I be running from the battery before I split off to the 2 amps? Any and all suggestions is appreciated. I'm not looking to bump. I just want nice clean audio. I had the iva-d300 before, and without a center channel the voices are hard to hear. That is why I am going that route. Thanks guys. |

Curious...does the amp split all frequencies on it's own? I thought in order to gain full 5.1 sound you'd have to have the h701 processor.
In regards to power wire size, I believe you'd be safe with 8 guage, but I suggest using 4 guage just for the headroom later. Nice deck, btw. I own the d300 and it will stay in my Civic when my fiance takes it over in a year or so. For the next car I'm getting the 310. I'm waiting til crutchfield cuts the prices dramatically (like they did on the d300) before I buy it, and then I'll store it. Those are by far the best and nicest looking h/u's around, imo. |

I'm getting the unit from a seller in Los Angeles for 895 with full warranty. Plus the speakers are super cheap. Here is a link to the amp...

1. I haven't heard anything bad about this equipment.
2. I would run 4 gauge from the battery to the distributor and feed 8 gauge to the components from the distributor. *keep in mind that the 90 day warranty is provided by the seller and not the manufacturer. |

Having done this many times in the past, I would definately recommend running a nice quality, copper, high strand count 4 gauge wire to a distribution block with at least 4 8ga. outputs. Unless its a huge amplifier 8 ga. will work fine and if you have to, you can always run 2, 8 ga. wires to the amp. As far as the distribution block goes, I would also recommend using one that has the option for either a glass fuse or wafer fuse on each output. This way if you want to run lighting or other small electrical components you can easily protect them with a small amp fuse with out dealing with inline fuses that hinder most wire runs. Just my 2 cents though
