Upgrading my Si's Stereo!

Hey Everyone!

In the near future, i would like to upgrade all of my speakers and components, along with an addition of a 10 inch sub in the trunk...

I dont know much about car audio, so this is why i am asking all of you!?!

What are a few good brands to look at when it comes to car audio in out civics? i hear alot of poeple talking about infinity...what about bluawpunk...or JL?

Also, can i replace the stock 8 inch sub with a new sub and then also add the 10 inch in the trunk?

What are your suggestions? Thanks!

O yea i dont want to change the stock HU and i know that i'll have to get some new amps...suggetions on those will be needed as well!

Thanks!

i prefer MTX. i'm still using the factory speakers for now(minus the 8" sub-disconnected it)...i added an MTX TA7801 powering a pair of 10" MTX 8500's (T8510-44).

I got Focal speakers and JL subs and amps in my SI. I would recommend memphis car audio if you are low on cash because they give the best bang for the buck.

I replaced the entire 2006 Ody speakers with Alpine speakers and amplifier. I am very happy with it. It is a lot better than the junk OEM. I was going to replace the speakers in the 2006 Civic coupe with Alpine, but I might be replacing the coupe with the 2007 Civic Si Sedan.

I have CDT Audio components in my doors and CDT Neo's for the tiny rear deck. All will take some love to fit correctly. Get rid of the factory sub and go with a solid 12" sub if you only want one speaker, preferably ported due to the lack of adjustability from your stock HU...JL's are good if you get the higher-end woofers.

I recently asked kind of the same question in a thread I posted and I received good feed back about diamond audio stuff. Might be worth looking into also.

Oh yeah, if you don't want to replace your stock HU you will need to purchase a few nicer quality hi-level adapters. I would not recommend using the built in ones on the amplifiers. They generate a lot of electrical "noise". Hi level adapters allow you to "tap" a hi-level signal that then converts it to a low level signal that RCA's can carry to the amplifier.

I have been doing car stereo for 9 years now. And there are tons of things to consider(price, craftsmenship, personal sound preference) I have all MTX now and love it. I have have owned almost every thing under the sun in the past nd really feel that the top brands are (MTX, JL Audio, Kicker) in that order but opinions are like a$% holes everyone has one. So look around and get what you like.
OPTIONS:

-Replace the factory 8 in the trunk with another infinate baffle (free air) 8 in sub. Very few company's still make free air subs, they can't handle much power and are not very loud, but they are very efficiant(don't need much power to run). JL and Kicker used to make them but now are discontinued.

-Buy a box to go in the trunk with your choice of subs for different listening types.

-Have someone to custom build you something flushed in the floor or flushed in the sides of the trunk. There is a couple of threads if your search here or H.Tech were people have flushed a ten in each side of the trunk and still have room for two sets of golf clubs.

i have a full jl audio system in my car...xr components in the front and an xr coaxial in the rear...all speakers are 6.5"..they are amped by the 300/4 and in the trunk i have (2) 12 w3v2 on the 500/1...this setup in my opinion gives me the perfect sound quality..the bass is deep and clear and the speakers go perfect with the combination...they never distort when turned up loud or they keep up with all the bass...i ended up taking out my stock 8" sub to let the bass get into the car easier since the 8" sub would have made the bass not as clear...

thanks for the replys!

yes i want to run everything off of the stock head unit so please let me know what i have to replace in order to do so correctly...

money always plays a role but i want to do it right the first time so i will save the amount of money needed to do so...

when it comes to music...i prefer very clear sound and nice bass...i dont want the type of car which the trunk rattles out of control (this is why i am thinking of only one sub) i just want a system that is clear, that knocks, and that sounds good on every level!

How much did this setup cost you?
