contemplating mount for V1

awhile back on this forum a guy had a DIY where he mounted his radar detector below his rear view mirror on the 3/4" arm but i can't find the thread again and can't seem to remember what he used for the post to go from the mirror to the radar detector...so I'm looking at doing a couple other things...
i contacted valentine to get information on if dot matrix effects the radars abilities and this is what i got back kinda short but informative i guess

The dot matrix won't affect the V1, but the cups won't do a good job of holding on
to this surface.

this is fine because it will be mounted with rear view mirror glue above the mirror...i have another diy explaining this elsewhere in the forum...

my other idea is to mount it on top of the subwoofer on the back panel of my fg2..i took some pics with my old detector

my only problem with this is that the front seats might hinder the performance of the radar detector in the case where the forward side is more important then behind me...

any input is greatly appreciated

btw ofcourse i'll be using the concealed display

If you put it in the back window, are you going to have one in the front? ..b/c on mine I always look to see what is zapping me (K or Ka is a Cop, X is never) and it would be difficult to distinguish hits with the radar in the rear -- not to mention I probably wouldn't hear it over the radio.

It sucks, I've always kept my radar @ the top of the windshield but w/ our cars the mirror and the visors get in the way so I just keep it suctioned to the windshield right below the r/v mirror.

A mount on the actual mirror bracket? Very interesting

What's the concealed display?

the concealed display hooks to the actual radar detector and turns its display off and you can route the display anywhere you want to put it...pretty cool

I ended up mounting my 8500 high top left of RVM with the bracket glued to the bottom of the dot matrix. so the top edge of the 8500 is flush with the bottom edge of the dot matrix. It works great.
