Sound deadening a coupe

I was wondering if anyone has completely sound deadend a new style coupe yet, (doors, trunk, floor, roof, etc.) I was wondering how many square foot of sound deadner mat it took. I'm considering Second Skin Damplifier or maybe Damplifier Pro.

I did everything in my coupe except the roof. It took me about 140 square ft of mat. I didn't do double layers except in the trunk and sides of the car.

I would suggest between 120-150 sq feet of mat...to do the vehicle, and remember, its always good to have more than not enough.

I used some stuff I got off of ebay. Link Here:

It works great, there was plenty to do floorboard, trunk, and sides. No need to double layer, its 80 mil thick! I made sure to cover the fender wells as much as possible, and it really made a HUGE difference!!

BTW. I shot him an offer of $110 American and he accepted, so $150 shipped.

Second skin is a wise choice. One of the best products out there.
I used it on my Integra and plan on doing the same on my coupe.
I was going to get about 150 sqft. Hoping that should be plenty.

Hey yall, I know this sounds really nubish, but where is the mat applied to?

Are you guys taking off your door panels and putting a layer inbetween the sheetmetal and door panels?? What about in the trunk?

My coupe Si already rattles and I wanted to put two modest 10"ers in sidewall enclousures eventually.

Cascade Audio Sound dampening

Hi there, new to this forum but I've been into audio for years. I would suggest that you at least take a look at Cascade Audio Sound Dampening. To be honest I have used just about everything out there from off name dampeners to Dynamat and most recently Cascade Audio. To be honest comparing one company to another is pretty much the same, as far as the materials used. Obviously you can step up to the lead sheet products and make a huge difference but other than that they are pretty much the same. The reason I prefer Cascade is because of cost and the fact that they have a mat black finish on all of their products. I always had to end up painting Dynamat black because you could see it through speaker grills and what not. Just another step to a process that is already long enough. I would recommend the VB-2max. Nice thick sheets and have worked very well for me. They sell it in small and large packs also.

VB-2 MAX (2pc) 2 Pack - 5.2 ft² coverage
$39.00

VB-2MAXSP 10 pc. Shop Pack - 26 ft² coverage
$155.00

VB-2MAXBP 20 pc. Bulk Pack - 52 ft² coverage
$310.00

I also like their web site becasue it teaches you alot about how the product works. Here's a link to their site.

Also, take the time to do it right. What I mean by that is, don't think that you can tear all of your interior out and install in one day. Proper dampening of and automobile takes time and patience. I would recommend tackling like the doors and trunk one day and then pull out the seats and carpet the next. You will have to also remember that you are covering alot of holes that you pulled fastners out of and stuff so a pick tool is handy to have. You will need a good pair of hevy duty scissors, a roller is recommended and do yourself a favor and wear some think gloves, that shizz is sharp, and trust me you won't finish the project unscathed. The butt end of a screwdriver will probably be your best friend during the project because of all the nooks and crannies in your doors. If you have any questions about it let me know.
