REMOTE START
Ok so I did a search but didn't come up with much so lets make this the remote start thread. Post any information that you might have on this subject and any pics that you might have. Also links to DIY.
I really want to do the remote start so my AC can get going before I get to my car. Nice thing to have living in Miami. I want to do this with the least amount of money involved and keeping my original alarm. Is this possible? Anyone done it, on my last car, I couldnt get the remote start without spending atleast $400. I would love to spend less then $100. Anyways any help would be great, let me know if anyone has done this and how much it cost. ![]() |

Wiring Info
Here is the wiring information provided by DEI. Don't forget the transponder-based immobilzer bypass module with whichever remote starter you decide on, otherwise it will not work. This Sunday I will be installing an Audiovox Prestige APS-686t on Blu By U's car. I've installed hundreds and hundreds of remote starters, and in terms of price/quality/reliability/features, I highly recommend this model as well as the entire Prestige line (in case you want one with an alarm, 2-way remote, or other upgraded features).
If you cannot make heads or tails of this information, you probably shouldn't be installing a remote starter by yourself. Especially on a brand new civic, it is imperative that you have a thorough knowledge of how to test for wiring with a DMM (digital multimeter). This wiring information should ALWAYS be double-checked with a meter. I cannot stress this enough. If you connect a 12V or a ground output to the wrong wire, you could potentially damage the computers in the car. Remember that quite often, there are several wires in the same location that are the same color that do very different things. All that being said, here is the info. I've eliminated a lot of the extraneous information. DIRECTWIRE™ WIRING INFORMATION - HONDA / CIVIC / 2006 / Remote Start 12volts white (50A) (+) ignition harness Starter yellow (+) ignition harness Ignition blue (+) ignition harness Accessory orange (+) ignition harness Second Accessory red (+) ignition harness (not necessary for rem. start) Keysense pink (-) ignition harness Power Lock green (-) dr kick or MICU, 34 pin plug, pin 28 Notes: The MICU (Multiplex Integrated Control Unit) is part of the fuse/relay box under the driver side dash. 507t (tilt sensor)- cool i guess... but by the time someone is tilting your car enough to tow it or jack it up to put it on blocks, your shock sensor should have triggered the alarm. 508d (microwave proximity sensor)- can't stand them. Usually I only put those on wranglers and convertibles because they really don't have a choice. The problem with prox sensors is that the two radar zones (inner and outer) are affected by many factors, such as surrounding mass (whether or not other cars are parked within a few feet, parking in a garage, etc), weather variables, etc etc etc... So what happens is that if the zones are set inside my install bay but the car is usually parked outside, the zones could easily be off by a few feet. Not good. Personally, adding tons of sensors only increases false alarms. And yes, I've installed them all, and I do know how to properly set them. I like my alarm to be fairly simple: hood pin and trunk pin (tapping into factory pins preferably), door pins, shock sensor, starter kill, ignition trigger. I also enjoy a good window automation (530t) now and then. Just some food for thought... ![]() |

Had remote start on my manual integra... and will have it on my SI soon. Get an alarm for it and you're fine. Then again, it's more than $100. More like $750 installed. Clifford AvantGuard 5 FTW! I'll probably upgrade to the 5.5 when it ships soon.

How is this, there are alot more some much cheaper some alot more. I just need the remote start that will work from far far away. So I can for example press it when I am facing the parking lot, press the button, have my car start, then when I find it I unlock it get in and drive. What do you guys think of that AUDIOVOX there are some other ones. |

I had the Astro Start 2106 xr installed on my previous 06 Si. The problem was that to set it for remote start, I had to crank up on the E brake twice until the map light came on. Now once set, the key can be removed, open the car door and when you close the door, the engine is killed and it automatically locks your car. However, if you have to unlock your door to retrieve something you forget, the remote start is disabled, unless you restart the car, reset the e brake etc. Plus, I killed my battery three times, because I left the headlights on unintentionally. With that remote start, it disables the warning chime that you left your lights on!!! I went back the shop who sells these, and asked if there were any other remote start out there for a 06 Si (MT) that will operate normally, and he said no. We had the same remote start installed on my wife's 06 EX Coupe and does not have any problems. Last week, I traded that ASM Si w/out NAV for a Haby with NAV. No more remote starters for me on this baby. That system installed BTW was 350.00

and also how many customers have bought any compustar??? i didnt even knew about it a few weeks ago... Rev 2 8K correct me if im wrong but if we have 2 set of keys we dont require the bypass for the imobolizer because since these keys are used to turn on the car (chipped inside) once can be kept on the remote start and the other one you get to keep it . i mean thats my ideal if you have 2 keys that turn on the car you can use one cant you? |
