Exclamation Updated OEM Navigation DVD info (merged)

I just checked the navi's database or version it is showing up as 1.07 also date was I believe april of 05.

The dealer said that I may want to check for a software upgrade and the CD is in the back.

Anyone may confirm, and can advise on an upgrade or where to go if one is available or for future referance?

Thanks

I don't understand why Honda does not include a hard drive based navigation system.

Easier to upgrade as well as marketing reasons I am sure.

Maybe marketing?
My MAgellan 700 GPS has a hard drive built in it but I can upgrade it by hooking it up to my computer's USB port and downloading the latest maps, bug fixes, firmware etc. from a DVD.
Honda should do the same. having all the maps loaded on a harddrive makes accessing them much quicker and uploading updates from a DVD would be a breeze. You wouldn't have to remember to bring the DVD with you before you take a trip.
Is the Honda DVD encoded so that it will only work with your specific Navi? This would be a good security feature which would justify the use of the disc. Other than that I can't think of a good reason not to use a hard drive.

FYI- if your navi eqipped Civic was built in June '06 you should already have the DVD DVD v6.11c installed.

Updated OEM Navigation DVD info

There seems to be no updated navigation DVD for the 2006 Civic, the current version is v6.11. It is dated 2005, and many streets and companies are not current. Many other Nav units like Garmin, Magellan, etc. have updates for 2006-07 already.

Does anyone have any idea when an updated DVD will be available for the Honda Civic 2006?

The latest version is 6.11C for cars made in June 06. I'm picking one up today built 08/06, and it has that version. It's a Habanero Red Pearl Si with NAV. Traded my 06 Si without NAV that is Alabaster Silver Metallic.

If I find an error in the database, how do I report it?

If the error pertains to a highway or "verified" main road (shown as dark-colored streets on the display), report it online at: http://update.navteq.com.

If the error involves a light- brown "unverified" road, do not report it. These areas are provided for reference only.

For errors in points of interest, keep in mind that the database may be out of date, depending on when the data was collected and when your DVD was purchased.

Did you report this unknown road? Thats the only way they'll add it to the DVD.
