I just got version 6.72B. It still shows there being a gas station by my house that hasn't been there since 1999 and a couple of the fairly new places that I searched for couldn't be found. I am going to try some more locations with it but so far I am feeling like I wasted my money.

That depends on which version you had before. If you were running something like 6.11, 6.55, or 6.56, you now have a good bit of functional changes that are well worth the money. However, if roads in your area just don't really change much, you may not find much value in the upgrade.

I waited two years before I upgraded and I was very happy with that cycle.

I upgraded from 6.55. I don't think the old businesses will ever be removed.

As you may or may not notice, your one way streets are now marked with arrows pointing in the direction that the traffic flows. You didn't have that before. You also have new views when the navigation is directing you through turns and exits. It's much more intuitive now. It may not seem like much, but I thought that was well worth the money.

If the next version they offer only gives you map upgrades and nothing else, then I suggest you pass on it.

I think it is absolutely unfair for them to be selling the discs for so much money. Those nav discs cost more than a freaking TomTom!

I didn't run into those new things yet, I'll have to make sure to pay attention.

I don't think it is really unfair, they should charge whatever they want. However, I do think that it is a bad pricing model that is going to end up not making them as much money as a different pricing structure might. Not only are people going to not pay for the updates at that price but it is going to cause people to completely forgo opting for in-car navigation systems for subsequent car purchases. I understand it might have made sense to set such a high price point when only fairly high-end cars came with navigation systems but that is no longer the case.

I noticed it's on sale for $149 through Honda. I have the disc from the 2008 model year from when I bought my car and I'm curious if it's worth the money to update?

yeah, sucks that it costs so much. the 08 nav version was actually worse off for me than the 07 version (minus the one way feature and the corrected daylight savings time update). several suggested DIRECT routes methods around my neighborhood changed for the worse, one took me in a round about way than before and another had me drive out of the way just to get back to where I wanted to go. Maybe the 09 version will fix these problems that the 08 created, but it's not worth $150. I agree that $50 is a much more reasonable price, especially since my hand held nav has free updates via the company's website. Oh well...

I just realized that you have to turn on showing one-way streets and once I turned it on, I realized it is wrong a lot...

the navi is only good if your going to a new place. if you knwo your area u can just avoid the streets you don't want to take. i drive in boston alot and get lost alot, with the navi i've learned alot of side road. so it has its good and bad. i definitely understand how you feel. i set a way point that is 5 mins away it made me drive 15mins. i also think that it's just picking the easiest routes for you to take then to make right then a left then a right o and a left then another left you know what i mean. only thing i REALLY WISH it had is realtime traffic!!!

Ditto. If anyone can point out any opportunities, I'd like to know. Can't find it right now. 6.11 seems pretty lame to me, esp re POIs. ANything would be better.

I had a Disc Read Error - See Dealer yesterday afternoon when I got into my car. I haven't had any issues since I did the update from a DVD I made. The only thing I can of is it was hot yesterday. It was 80 when I go into my car and it hasn't been that hot since I upgraded. I figure these home made DVDs will not be able to handle the heat like a professional one can. This morning when it was cool, I didn't get the error.
