Just to state the obvious, please do not post any links to torrents or any sites that host ill-gotten software.

Just found this on the Alpine navigation disc order site: "Coming Soon - The Fall 2008 update (2009 Model Year).
For a limited time, the new Fall 2008 update will be offered at a discounted price of $149. Detail to be announced."

The updates are way overpriced if you ask me.

I don't see anything about this special pricing they mentioned last week. They said it would be a limited time offer but damn, that was quick.

If you buy from Alpine you get version 6.72C for 2009, if you buy a 2009 car it comes with 6.73, and if you look on eBay you can find a version 6.72B.

Any idea what is different between those different versions?

Also, if you get a new DVD, do you just pop it in and it works?

. For a particular version number (like 3.30d), the map coverage typically remains the same during the entire model year - usually only the letter following the version changes (like the "d" in 3.30d), as minor software updates are made throughout the year.

i think if the number changes is because theyre fixing an issue with the dvd.

I updated to 6.62A on Wednesday. Yesterday, I noticed that when I first turn on the car, the Navi beeps when it displays the disclaimer. It also beeps when the disclaimer goes away without me hitting anything. I don't recall this behavior before or immediately after I upgraded...but I could be wrong. Has anyone else noticed this?

It beeped before. You just didn't realize.

I noticed the same thing when I upgraded. 6.11C never did that before, but subsequent versions after that did.

I kinda remember it beeping now, but only only when it displayed the disclaimer. I don't recall it beeping when the disclaimer went away. I was on 6.11C.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. 6.11 never beeped after the disclaimer went away, but versions after that do. I have no idea why and it is only marginally annoying.
