Aint that the truth. I've done a number of searches where the results I got showed the first selection being in, for example, Washington state. I live in Texas! So far, when it starts doing that, I've not been able to get it to narrow the search. At that point, I typically give up on it. It's just not worth taking the time.

Has there been an announced date as to when the new update will be available to order?

I have purchased an update DVD for my 06 Civic one time since purchasing the car. When I installed the new disk, it did a software as well as a mapping upgrade. The process took about 15 minutes. The system now tracks the street I'm on more accurately than it originally did. Unfortunately, it's overall routing sometimes leaves a bit to be desired but in the whole of it, it works better than it did when it was brand new.

FWIW and Good luck,
Steve R.

it works better than my magellan or tom tom. i have fully updated portable navis, and my OLD not updated SI OEM Navi blows them away.. Basically the steet name promts are FTW.

I think the fact that I live in a VERY populated city, that has not had to much developed on NEW roads has made the difference for me.

I live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and stop at 20 - 30 places between home and Miami DAILY, and i experience many MANY more problems with my tom tom or magellan.( dead ends, one ways, wanting me to u-turn even though i know im good with taking my way )

POI may be a different story though, i dont use it for that often.. I know where everything is around here. I did notice that if you do look something up it can be listed a million ways, wal mart, walmart inc, wal-mart, llc, and it may show the nearest one to be 1396 mi away, when you know thre is one a LIIIIIL closer.

CANT WAIT to get the '09 ! but $ 180.00 is FTMFL - thats how much my whole tom tom cost, and gets free updates

it starts tracking well before my portable too...

I'm not too big on the price, but I'll be updating since the 355 extension in Illinois has opened and it's not in my current disc. I've been keeping an eye out so I can order it but it's still unavailable.

Besides road updates and GPS time format updates, the coolest thing about the 08 Nav DVD is that it shows One Way streets now. Wonder what'll be new on the 09 Nav...

there is only ONE one way street that i can think of anywhere near here.. maybe a few more by the beach but not too many... Philly onthe other hand, i visited there and could not deal with the fact that almost every road in the entire south philly area, was one way.. i wasted so much gas driving in circles it was rediculous, and they gave me a monster SUV... One ways suck, sorry to those who have 'em

The '09 update might have the software upgrade for the USB interface.

There is in the '09 Civics. It's in the center console, under the arm rest.

Hmm, i just got my 07 navi unit replaced under my extended warranty, and I wonder if it has any of the new features, USB, or the plugs for the bluetooth module... They already installed it in the car, but it is bigger than the previous one, because it sticks out some, and when I questioned the installer, he said he thought that was weird too, and that the new unit was actually a little bigger than the old one. Any way to tell for sure? Model number on the back i'm guessing?

Sorta jumping the gun a little bit since new version is right around the corner...but I was feeling a little bored and noticed a torrent for the 6.62 disc that was active. I have that going right now. I've got a few DL disks laying around as well. We'll see how that works. Havent updated since my car was new 3yrs ago.

Thats funny I just finished downloading that and was going to ask about it here.
Can we mess up our navi by updating it with a bad disk, will it "brick it"?
Going to burn it and give it a try tomorrow.

I dont know if this is the right thread for this question but didnt want to start my own for it...

Im trying to add addresses to my address book. Figured it would be simple but couldnt figure it out so i looked it up in the manual. It says select address book, then select user 1 or 2 then in the upper corner it should say new address except mine doesnt, in the upper right corner mine shows the category and when i push that it just lets me pick from the categories.... what am i doing wrong?
