This morning when it was cool, I didn't get the error.
Same thing happened again today now that it was really hot again. I had to download the original DVD software back onto the unit. I guess the unit can't read the DVD-R I used because the heat must alter it someway. It was a Memorex. Anyone know good DVDs that will withstand the heat and should I use -r +r -rw +rw or what?

Take those links down...

The newest edition I believe is some variation on 6.72.

People here do torrent navi discs, but I'm pretty sure you aren't supposed to be posting links. I'm working on a 6.62 torrent myself, but it's still got 40-something percent left.

6.62 is a US Navi disc...as is 6.72

Navi discs run for about $185 from the alpine website.

And like I said before, you need to edit your posts and remove those links.

Just thought I'd share my feedback as to what changes I've noticed between version 6.11 (2005 ver that came with my '06 CSX; it came with 2 DVDs, 1 for Canada and Northern US and 1 for Southern Canada and US) and 6.62A (the 2008 ver which only covers Southern Canada and the US). So if you're planning on upgrading, I'd recommend you keep your original DVD handy in case you decide to travel further north (Northern Ontario for instance) :-)

BTW I was unable to locate 6.72 for download/cheaper purchase available anywhere (compared to Alpine's site where they charge an unruly $250 CDN + tax for the CSX DVD).

Anyhow, here are the differences I've noticed:

The positive:
-the arrows for one-way streets at 80m zoom level are there when added under the misc icon options
-it's got picture icons on the map for some of the major gas stations (Petro, Esso, and Pioneer were the ones I noticed)
-POIs have been updated
-For instance Orillia seems to have been changed to "confirmed state," so there are some minor changes in that respect
-bread crumbs, previous destinations and such all remain intact regardless of which DVD/version you're using
-whenever there's an exit it wants you to take or avoid off of the highway, it will show you the number of lanes available to remain on the highway and the number of lanes that come off the highway
-supposedly the DST patch is applied, however I can't confirm it works until the time-change occurs :-)

The negative:
-it lags here and there
-I see no update in newer streets themselves (meaning they're still missing even though they've now been there for years and this is supposed to be the '08 ver)
-it only covers southern Canada (up to Gravenhurst for instance)
-it beeps everytime it changes a screen (eg if you don't hit "OK" on the nag screen, when it ends up displaying the clock)
-everytime you set a destination, it tells you to get on the road in order for it to give you directions (in a bit more of a polite way, that is) regardless of where you're situation at the beginning of the instructions, while the old one would only do that if you weren't already on a street that's on the map

Nice, if the maps are actually updated, I might be willing to pay that much for an update :-/ Keeps us informed plz :-D

EDIT: Turns out none of the eBay sellers ship to Canada, so I guess I'll likely have to continue digging around, even if the maps are updated :-o

Works great, if you want to upgrade this is probably the cheapest legal way

Okay, so my gf just got a used '07 EX coupe. It has the OEM navi and premium audio package. However, I don't think the seller included the navi DVD that's been mentioned in this thread. So, can she not update the maps without it?

Thanks for the reply.

I think I read that it wasn't worth it since they didn't update the streets, but just things like POI's???

So I just did this, and I've run into a little issue. My splash screen comes up fine, but the honda emblem with the "navigation system" words from the original splash are overlayed ontop of my picture and its green and grainy. How do I get rid of this overlay? Thanks in advance
