Bluetooth Install

Tomorrow, I'll be installing a Parrot CK3100 Bluetooth kit with the QCHon-2 Quick Connect harness that I bought from www.parrotkits.com. I've already mounted the LCD screen in the little cubby underneath the climate controls and will probably mount the "brain" behind the glovebox in the same location where the module for the Honda iPod link would be mounted. My only concerns are that this thing has the most god-awful huge wiring harness I've ever seen and I'm really going to have to get creative to cram all of that up in there plus I'm not real sure as to where to mount the mic to get the best reception. Right now, I'm leaning towards mounting it on the side of the auto-dimming mirror but we'll see.

May try to take pics and do a DIY on this as I know there have been multiple requests for a Bluetooth solution and this is the only one I've found that integrates with the OEM Navi and is plug 'n play. Wish me luck, guys---I'm gonna need it.

Well, I finally got the damn thing installed. Too tired to post up pics but I took a wad of them. The Parrot works as advertised but it's not an easy install by any means. You'll see when I post up the pics---the mute & power harness is so long that's it's not easy to get it situated properly and the QCHon-2 Quick Connect harness has to be put in a certain place or it won't reach the plug on the back of the Navi unit. Here's a little teaser of the finished product:

More pics and a DIY to follow soon.

Yeah, freakin' Imagestation's being ***. I need to do that DIY, just haven't had the time yet. I did have to do the Honda/Acura mod with the resistors as it was blowing me out of the seat at the lowest volume setting. I also need to get back in there and take some more pics of where I ended up putting the harness as I had to move it so the glovebox would close. Hopefully, I'll get to it this weekend.

Maybe, just maybe I can get this DIY done up tonight. I've got to get back in there this afternoon and clean up my harness install as some of the wires are rubbing when I open the glovebox and I need to make sure the Parrot brain is securely tied down so it's not hitting anything.

Other than these few minor issues, this is a worthwhile addition.

What resistors did you use and where did you get them? My parrotkits harness showed up yesterday. This weekend or next I'm going to install the whole kit.

Does the CK3100 "Acura" mod at www.parrotkits.com only need to be done on the Si and EX Coupe that have the big external 360 watt amp? Other 2006 Civics can use any Parrot kit and not need any mods - plug and play with the QCHon-2 harness - right? I'm about to put their 3200 Color in my basic stereo 4 door.

I believe that they were 3.3k ohm - 1/4 watt resistors (bought from Radio Shack for .99). Check out the FAQ on the parrotkits.com website to verify that. Howard from there also said that if it was still too loud that you could use 2 resistors on each wire instead of one.

That's my understanding. A word of caution on the CK3200---if you are going to try to fit the color display in the same place I did, it won't fit by the time you put a mounting bracket on. Too tall---

I just finished my install of CK3100 in 07 Civic EX sedan. I have a complete write up and I was able to tuck the 'brain' with wires under the radio. Let me know if you have any questions.

Yes, please share your write-up. Did you use a harness?
