but I would figure that they're both just as good because they are made by the same person/designer

The Bel Radar detctors are really good too. I have picked up K Band 2 miles plus with hills trees and houses between my car and the radar. I have the Bel 895, it has already saved me from a speeding ticket. It's only 200 bucks at Radio shack. Just another option out there.

Valentine 1 dude. Has saved me over 6k thus far by my best estimate.
It remains at the top of the best out there and is the only unit that is permanently upgradeable. In 5 years time you can send it in with $100-150 and get the newer features or the new technology. The other radar detectors, well, you'll be purchasing a whole new unit. Add that up over time, and for your dollar it's also the best one to purchase as well. Imagine having a PC that was permanently upgradeable for a small fee, it's a no brainer.

Get the passport dude. They all perform at the same level.

The 8500 x50 is by far the most stylish and simpliest to use.

The V1 has many functions and features, but quite complicated.

I have the passport and love it.
