XM RADIO 06 Civic SI with out nav
I wanted to get it but found out that XM Ready means not ready. The dealer wants over $500.00 to make it work. I think that price is well past reasonable. Do any of you have other solutions to getting XM radio in the 06 Civic SI with out NAV?
Thanks! |

The XM add-on can be had for about $230, but you'll have to install in yourself.

MSRP for the up grade to get the XM radio to work through honda is like $489 plus labor. I have the instructions to install it and it is like 14 pages long. It looks like you have to take the entire dash board out. I believe the instructions say it should take about 5 hours. You know how much per hour a dealer charges. I bet it would end up costing $700 or more just to get your XM ready radio to work. I am thinking there has to be a better way. $700 I could buy a lot more than an XM radio out in town. I think Honda has lost their mind on this one. I am thinking that I can just get an after market one that I can also use in the house. Just not sure on what to get. I have been looking at an Pioneer inno. I thought it might just plug in and play. I have not yet got my hands on one to see if it will or not.

Get a portable unit. Something like these Sirius car units. If you get a boombox also, then you can move the radio to inside your home, boat, or whatever. One account but it can go anywhere.
http://shop.sirius.com/edealinv/serv...dParentID=7870 You can see I just put mine in the drink holder and it's in perfect reach. I use a 3.5mm stereo jack and the sound quality is great. ![]() Soon I'll be hardwiring it to the car. The wires will come from underneath the drink holder. I'll post a little DIY on it when it's finished. I've just been busy but it's something I really want to finish. |

XM ready means that the OEM radio has the necessary connections for the XM tuner. The link that I posted above has said tuner for $230. Have you checked it out?
Or you can always use the AUX input and hook up a portable XM or Sirius unit to the OEM radio. |
